    Cooling system stays pressurised?

I recently fitted a new cap and thermostat, so they should be fine. My car is a Td5' and when I fill the coolant I always take out the bleed screw to ensure that the coolant has filled the system. Is that the correct method or is there an alternative which might ensure that the total system is...

    Wipers......

Hello from County Leitrim David, I have had three wiper motors on my Defender in the last six years. There's been a used replacement motor, a new spurious and now, a new genuine LR component. I have also replaced each and every other component in the windscreen wiper system, and, only after...

    Cooling system stays pressurised?

Good afternoon Lynall, if, as you say, an overfilled system is effecting excessive pressure, when the coolant is expelled, can that create a siphon which expels additional water? Leaving the level much lower than it should be.

    Td5 Defender 90 technical questions

Good morning Gottschalk, and thank you for your help. My local mechanic was responsible for the work done on my defender, so I can't honestly confirm precisely what he did. He's old style mechanic and normally very thorough. Would you think that another flush might be a reasonable precaution? I...

    Td5 Defender 90 technical questions

Hello Neilly. No stupid questions at all. I didn't notice the jump into the red. But I had been keeping an eye on it on the outward journey when it was fine. After that, and on the return journey, I had relaxed my attention and did'nt notice the jump. Fluid levels are all fine. But, I didn't...

    Td5 Defender 90 technical questions

Thanks for your reply Gottschalk. The radiator was renewed and the system was flushed out very well. The thermostat was replaced last month. The only things that I need to ensure is that the air filter is okay, but it has only done a few hounded miles, over approximately 6 - 8 months. And, I...

Desperate for information on Spray Can Pint touch up

€1 €150 is very cheep, when compared to the job that i did, which cost me €36 in materials, lots and lots of elbow grease, and not to mention the hand cream, which helps maintain my hands, as soft and youthful for longer, as my hands are always exposed to other potential damaging factors...

Desperate for information on Spray Can Pint touch up

This is an "on the hoof" project and, as you can see from the second image, the paint work is not the best anyway but it's frustrating when you do the work and the outcome is so poor. I spoke to a rep. from the paint supplier and he thinks that the thinners in the paint might have "broken...
