    P38A E10 petrol arrgghh

I am sure I hadn't had a problem before. My wifes Panda TwinAir runs really badly on normal unleaded but perfectly on super unleaded but it is known to be a very picky little engine.

    P38A E10 petrol arrgghh

Possibly it was Tesco basic Unleaded. I plugged the car into my diagnostic just to check if it was something else but everything looked good. At least it won't be too long before I have to fill up again :D

    P38A E10 petrol arrgghh

I normally fill up with the Tesco Momentum99 and the engine runs really sweetly. Yesterday had to put some E10 Unleaded in and what a difference, lumpy running and response is noticeably poor. Won't be doing that again.

    Ordered an accumulator today :D

    P38A Brake accumulator?

Driving in slow traffic, stop/start at the weekend my wife commented on the whirring noise coming from drivers side virtually every time I touched the brakes, her hearing is better than mine! The noise is definitely the accumulator and it does seem to activate nearly every press of the brake...

    P38A Another electrical gremlin

Battery is good for a change :) but the car is damp inside from having wet dogs and wet humans in it.

    P38A Another electrical gremlin

So just went out to move the cars around and when I turned the ignition on the dash proclaimed Electrical Fault, Fuel Gauge Fault, Temperature Gauge Fault, Air Bag Fault. After moving the cars the message had gone and the dash worked OK for a bit and then it came and went a few times before...

Yep thermal switch had melted and disintegrated taking the brushes out and the the whole thing just burnt out. The awful smell of burnt motor windings was in my workshop for ages after. Have pictures but it says I don't have permission to upload them

P38A Tale of two faults fixed

As some of you will know I have had a long standing issue with the battery going flat for no obvious reason and then recently had the EAS pump have a catastrophic failure when it totally destroyed itself internally. Well it seems the two problems were related as since fitting the replacement...

    P38A Cruise control not working

Mine had a perished pipe in a number of places and the switch at the pedal end had come adrift. Fitted a new reinforced pipe from a local firm who do gas, air and hydraulics.

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

There is one there but it's really knackered. Time for new ones I guess. Wonder if I could make my own?

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

Yep directly above it. I am hoping it's historic, I reckon that it got wet at some point and cardboard was inserted for whatever reason.

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

Well been under the carpet, nothing is wet but the connectors are corroded a little bit. I did find a hole on the floor but more worrying is a very burnt layer of corrugated cardboard and underlay.

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

I did wonder that but I was soaked through so had the hump with it. Here's hoping it's not hammering down tomorrow.

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

Well something is still not right. Been out this morning in torrential rain and lots of large puddles. The suspension lights on the dash were flashing between two and sometimes three lights, wouldn't stabilise at all. Got home and the pump was running so I pulled the plug on it. The valve block...

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

Will wait until the spring before I do anything rash. Tax and insurance combined is about £50 a month and looking at the MOT mileage I only did 1500 miles last YEAR so actual fuel cost is not massive either. Think this year I have spent a bit making it roadworthy and sorting out niggles and bad...

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

Pump and relay fitted, wiring checked and it all functions as it should be. However I may have to sell it though as the cost of living is starting to impact us and running three cars for the two of us is not helping the finances. Both our other cars, Fiat Panda Trekking and Octavia Vrs Tdi...

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

New pump and relay have arrived but got to wait until next weekend to do the work. Will update once I have done the work.

P38A EAS Pump etc (spoke to soon!)

It was a mess inside all around the brushes and the temp regulator was just loose inside. Some of the connections to the armature were bent. Still not sure where the melted plastic bits came from.
