Few teething probs on new truck (td5)

Here's a couple of answers: The little noise/odd feeling on startup from the brake pedal is normal - they all do it. Steering box - usually easiest to replace. Changing seal in situ is a pig and the thing usually still leaks. Plenty of threads on here about disco2 steering box replacement...

    Series 2 Disco Tailgate Problem

Common as anything, this. Small screwdriver, pop off the LR badge on the tailgate lock surround, push handle back down. While you're there, give it and its pivots/springs etc a GOOD spray with spray grease or similar and work the handle up and down. WD40 works for a bit but it will seize up...

    Air Suspension Compressor

The problem with just changing the compressor is that the water is often still in the inlet pipes, so you put a new one on and it sucks up all the crap. The design of the air filter is poor - it is located behind the rear light cluster, just below the sunroof drain tube (smart!)

    advice please re SLS

I managed it without a press but would have much rather had one. I used a heavy duty machinemart vice and a bunch of 1/2" sockets as a press, using a hammer to knock the vice tight. Works and shocks the bushes out. Not recommended as it might damage the vice, but I decided it would be worth a...

    discovery ace conversion

Unfortunately, the people in the country who know how to do things right don't work for LR, or we wouldn't have had the abortion of ace connectors in the first place!

    discovery ace conversion

*Very* interesting indeed. Would like to see if you can do something for the front side of the ACE valve block too, and SS pipes between the block, pump and front ram./ Complete fit and forget ACE kit might well be worth it!

    watts linkage -- advice please

It's a good idea, but it isn't that easy (especially on the watts bushes). The Watts bushes aren't actually bushes, they have bearings inside - though I dare say enough heat and the centre assy would fall out. The blowtorch technique ain't new and I have used it with some success. On LR...

    TC and ABS

You cannot drive around on the road with a locked centre diff as the transmission will wind itself up and then something will break horribly. You can DISABLE the TC if you want to - in fact, if you fit the diff lock manual linkage, the TC will automatically be disabled when this is engaged. David

ACE Conversion ,more problems RGB 101310

I'm well aware of what they are and what they do. Read again what I said ;-) LR specify two different rear non-ACE ARBs, depending on whether SLS is fitted. My point is that people who are removing the SLS system do not change the ARBs, just the air springs and spring seats. Therefore, I am...

ACE Conversion ,more problems RGB 101310

The SLS/ACE anti roll bar issue is a bit of a puzzle for me. People doing rear air springs->coils never seem to change the anti-roll bar, so I wonder what exactly is different! David

ACE conversion looking likely now, need advice

Urban Panzer, have you noticed anything detrimental after de-aceing? My front and pump-pipes are looking pretty rusty though haven't gone through yet. The front ACE actuator is also leaking slightly. I don't mind ripping it all out but if there's much to gain, then I'll try to keep it...
