    P38A Oil pump 4.6 thour

Hobourn Eaton made the pump internals, don't know about the main casing. We had a 'spare' front cover but I'd not risk a secondhand piece unless it was surface ground flat first. New cover assembly was £200+ last time I looked. (£193 plus carriage and VAT) They are listed as part of the Dana...

Soggy passenger footwell - Hi, I drive Daphne, my delectable Disco 2

You remembered well :) There is a joining of panel welds that is roughly behind the interior fusebox on the Disco 2. Mine was leaking water into the cabin, so I took off the windscreen trims and the wiper motor covering to get at it. There were some pictures to go with it, a search in the...

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Yep, and we still do! Three D2 V8's and a 4.6 Rangie Vogue, all running on 10W-40 diesel oil, 94k miles on my D2 V8 with original cam followers and camshaft** I have often recommended diesel lubricating oil as long as it is a quality brand. Peter ** We put a genuine Rover short engine in it...

I think we bought one from Paddocks not too long ago, but that was a bog-standard one with LR logo on the back. Peter

    Dreaded EAS problems

We have a 2000 Vogue 4.6, and one problem in the cold weather is moisture in the valves freezing. I've got a desiccator kit and a set of O-rings and diaphragm for the valve block. In fact I have two spare valve blocks so I can recon one out of the car and swap it over fairly quickly. A spare...

help with disco 2 putting cly head back on

One thing you MUST do is fit decent composite head gaskets, and line up the head(s) using the inlet manifold and an old gasket first. The block dowels are a very sloppy fit in the head and allow the head to be assembled on the skew, enough that the inlet manifold won't line up and will leak. I...

    Miss fire on disco 2

We have had issues with the 3-way connectors on the sides of each coil pack. Check for corrosion on the terminals and the flying socket. Our Son's failed in Carpentras, south of France but we had spares at home which we had sent out by courier. Peter

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I don't think it's the motors themselves, there's not a lot in them to go wrong, it''s more likely the flaps jamming or bad connections. Peter

    Solar top up trickle chargers

We had a 20W panel with no regulator, wired across one of our Renault Trafic batteries. That kept it up for weeks on end and it lay on the dashboard. If you go much higher than 20W then you'll need some sort of controller / regulator to stop too much charge on sunny days. Peter

    Different Wheel Nuts

I've got some on my desk, we are at NN10 0JT if you want to pop over and try one. Although I know that wheel stud threads are different between D1 and Defender and D2/D3/D4/RRS/L322 etc Peter

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had a play with some blend motors, as you do :) I had a set come with the car, thought I'd have a look inside them to see what's there. A small motor with an initial worm drive through a very large reduction gear chain to the keyed output shaft. A potentiometer geared to the output shaft...

P38A I Have ££££ Burning A hole In My Pocket... What to Buy??

I never buy pattern wiper blades, they nearly always turn out to be rubbish. Genuine aren't cheap but they are far better. Peter
