    Sport Symposer/resonator location

The part number is actually LR016211 and I have it already, my question is more where it is located. This engine is actually going into a discovery 2 (https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/6-wheel-drive-discovery-ii-am-i-totally-mad.301730/ if you're interested) so I need to locate the...

    Sport Symposer/resonator location

Hi, I'm using the 5litre engine from a 2010 Range Rover Sport and am getting down to the small details now. The back of the engine has a symposer on it, which feeds sound via a hose to a resonator fitted in the sport fire wall. This much I know, but I'm trying to figure out exactly where on the...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

The primary motivation for the body extension was for the 3rd axle. I really wanted a 6-wheel discovery (it's just how I'm wired). If I had wanted to add a 3rd door therefore, it would have had to accommodate the rather restrictive "V" shape between the two rear axles, which would have been...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

The electric motor only drives the rear (3rd axle). The front axle and 2nd axle are driven through a reasonably conventional automatic gearbox and transfer box. The motor when needed is driven by a 3-phase AC controller which uses 2 banks of 96 LiFePO4 batteries each of which outputs around...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

As promised, some pics to illustrate the point, sorry for appearing in reflection ! This overview shows both flaps open, as you can clearly see, the rear flap is for the petrol tank and is fairly conventional, whereas the front flap houses the electrics A close up of the petrol...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Well yes and no. They are both functional and both openable from the dash and the key fob, but only the rear one is petrol, the front one is the electric hookup - this being a PHEV (Pluggable Hybrid Electric Vehicle) I'll take some pics at the weekend and post them here

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Yeah, they're all fitted as you can see from my April 2nd post. The adapter frames are all fabricated and I've had them powder coated in gloss black which seems to go well with the interior decor. The passenger side (non memory) all just works once you apply the appropriate power to it. The...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

I haven't done an update for a while, and as I finally got glass in the monster today, I thought I would add some pics All the back windows are blacked-out limo glass, which I think looks good in the colour scheme, the fronts are of course a much gentler shade which looks a little odd, but...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

A few pics of the interior, you can see from these pics that there is still a LOT of work to do, but you can see the L322 seats clearly here This shows a view of the dash, although the actual dash is out right now while I sort out some wiring, you can see the L322 steering wheel here too and...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Lol, I do try and remove the gibberish o_O. I am eternally grateful to these forums, as the feedback and suggestions I get are inspiring, so it is in my interests for as many people to understand what's going on as possible So if there is anything unclear or needs better explaining, please...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Just a quick update, I've received the chrome door handles and they look gorgeous. The process is quite extensive - copper plating, then nickel plating and finally chrome, but the result is gorgeous, and much nicer than painted or wrapped in my opinion, what do we think ?

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

It's not a million miles away, the unit that's on there now is 150A, but the tricky bit is that it has no bracket, but rather bolts directly to the engine block In all honesty though, once the steering box is relocated, the alternator is not going to be an issue as it is

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

That's true, and in fact I have a bearmach adjustable panhard rod on there right now, but I don't think it's going to have the range necessary for the mod I'm going to have to do, but we'll see ;)

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Well I've had a good look at the space around the steering box, and mounting it on the outside of the chassis will require some collateral rework I am going to have to relocate the chassis mount for the front axle panhard rod and customise the panhard rod length accordingly Although the...

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

No I'm not talking about putting the steering box on the wrong side of the car, it would still be on the driver's side, just on the outside of the chassis rather than the inside

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

Well now here's a frisky idea. What about getting a steering box from a left-hand drive vehicle and fitting it on the right, but outside the chassis ? Looks like there may be room for it and I've seen something similar done on defenders Any thoughts ?

6-Wheel Drive Discovery II - Am I totally mad ?

The problem is that although the engine initially slotted in quite nicely, the ancillaries are all a lot lower down on the AJ133 in comparison to the THOR which has the alternator and A/C in the V as you can see on these comparison pics Thor V8 AJ133S So what to do ? I could start with the...
