If the bores and the crank shaft are undamaged, sure, why not? If you've a good engine re bore service nearby then absolutely.

I suppose it depends on the engine and remap. Something with a lot of engineering overheard can be safely remapped by a competent tuner. Volvo offered a remap for their five cylinder diesels with full warranty. The remap was done by their in-house tuners, polestar. Who are now a manufacturer...

Typically CV joints need grease, similar to defenders and range rovers. Oil is better than grease for UJ joints, as the tiny rollers need lubricant.

Can you get the same preload using the bearings as the Railko? The Railko bushes have never given me trouble with standard wheels.

There are shims under the pins that hold the hub to the swivel. Held in with four nuts and lock tabs. Remove a shim until solid, then once tested, replace the Railko bush and set up according to the manual

I've parabolic springs. I like them. If you go for them, you'll be better off buying new shocks. Gas type, and maybe extended jump hoses. I've mine for 15 years or so. But multi leaf are good, too. Just need to ensure they are kept mud free.

The 1/2 ton, air portable was fitted with different springs to the civilian models. Jones sell them. Standard civvy springs will fit, and parabolic, so your choice.
