Drove from London to Portsmouth, dipped get toes in the sea, hooked up a speedoat and drove to Kilmarnock. The gearbox actually deemed to get smoother on the way. Apart from the trailer lights going out, she held up beautifully.

I also have heated (that don't work) seats, a stick blower motor, non working lcds in the dash and hevac, an srs light that just came on, gurgling behind the dash that just started, and i think that's about it!

bit late to this. My P38 2000 DSE just started making a very similar noise. Had problems with leaks in the passenger footwell in the past, and I've been meaning to get under the car to bleed the A/C tubes for a while. Is this issue likely to be the same thing on the P38? If so, ideas?

I tthink you may be right. When I cranked the fans to max, a light spray of water droplets came out from the footwell vent.

New compressor runs like a dream. Bulbs didnt fix the lcds though, but had the becm back out and checked and there's nothing wrong there. Is it possible I loosened a cable when I took the stereo out? There's nothing else to check at this point.
