    Disco 2 Diesel Leak

Filled up with diesel the other night and 1/2 mile from the filling station someone is flashing their lights at me. On looking in the mirror several times I noticed the rear window was wet and a trail of liquid on the road behind me. I pulled up on the first available grassed verge and lifted...

    Steering arm removal

Never had a problem removing the drop arm from any of my LRs over the years. Big hammer or Big hammer and heat; job done! Copper slip on splines helps for future.

Should all new copper washers be annealed before use?

Disco 2 Both Key Fobs not working.

Absolutely, just had the same and replaced my RF receiver and then did the headlining whilst it was out. You're right, get all the jobs done at the same time. When you put new RF receiver in also put a shield over it to keep that dripping moisture off it.

    Head liner re cover

Yep the second parcel was 3 tubes of spray adhesive. So me and the lad set up in the second lounge (about to be decorated) and put the headlining on the pasting table having cleaned it all up in the garage first. We did it in thirds rather than two halves and it helped rather than trying too...

    Head liner re cover

My kit has arrived, 2 parcels, one the headlining and the other a tube containing what I would expect will be the adhesives. Been looking at internet videos and think I have an idea of how to do it now. We will see this weekend.

    Head liner re cover

I've ordered the Martrim headlining today and it will arrive tomorrow apparently! Something for the weekend between the rugby matches and I have one lounge fully cleared ready to redecorate so i'll use that to do it in. Timing is everything.:D

    Head liner re cover

If you go on their wedsite I think it tells you some detail about the dimensions of the fabric. Guessing but I may have read 1.7m somewhere.

    Head liner re cover

Just taken mine off to replace the RF Receiver and stripped it back ready for recovering. Found a place on internet called Martrim that provide the full kit of everything you need for £60. Some discussion on here seems to confirm they are good kits so I'm thinking of going that way. I will be...

Disco 2 Rear shock absorber mount failure

Looks great. Get welding. Worth considering some waxoyl or other stuff; that chassis is looking good.

    Disco 2 Key Fob not working . . . . . .

Fantastic service. I ordered the new RF receiver from Ribble Valley 4x4, after speaking with the guy about availability, and it arrive 24hrs later, plugged it in and all working again. Can't fault the efficient service of Ribble Valley, tracker number for postage and text to phone confirming...

    Bearings

Doesn't sound like a size that might be difficult to locate. I obtain bearings from our local bearing supplier, they tend to be cheaper than Fleebay and other sources and can advise on correct application and bearing type. A quick Google flags up several bearing suppliers near you, I'd start...

How stupid am I going to be?

I love my D2, even though I have a small issue at the moment with the RF receiver. I chose a good vehicle with low mileage, no sunroofs and a great chassis. I've taken the head off the TD5 motor and replaced the plastic dowels, new head gasket and flushed through with new antifreeze. I've Taken...

    Disco 2 Key Fob not working . . . . . .

I should have taken a picture when the headlining was out but the steel roof was full of condensation and it was dripping wet. I assume this is not uncommon in many vehicles, especially if not being run so much, as we are alldoing these days during lockdown. The RF unit sits in a black plastic...

    Disco 2 Key Fob not working . . . . . .

That's good to know. I also see that the unit looks very similar to other models, RR, Disco 3, Rover 75, etc. Are you aware if these too are interchangeable?

    Disco 2 Key Fob not working . . . . . .

Well not what I wanted today really but the key fob, including the spare, are not opening the doors and disabling the alarm. Fortunately I have the horn disconnected from the alarm but the vehicle is is still immobilised and I can't see the BCU as a result on my Nanocom. Anyway, I've finally...

    Home Powder Coating

You've powder coated those fork legs? Thats impressive, where did you bake them? I usually go for a polished aluminium look on my fork legs. Electro zinc plating small parts is a technique worth trying out and you can easily create a small diy process.

    Dowty sealing washers?

Not always true. Who the hell would be daft enough to use plastic dowels to locate a cylinder head?

    Disco 2 Rusty chassis treatment

Its a matter of judgement really, without actually seeing tghe chassis. If the last patch repair was done well and the rest of the chassis is good, after removing surface rust, it could be worth introducing waxoyl and reapplying every couple of years, both inside and out, for a 3 or more...
