And shifted throught all gears as I understand it, my level certianly dropped by 3 litres after shiftng enabling a further 3 litres to be added... that is the procedure I learnt.

Did you fill the sump then run the engine and shift through all gears, switch off and refill sump again?? That is broadly speaking the procedure I believe.. worked for me.
