Well shock horror my bro is looking at getting back into landies again used to have an 66 S2a years ago and has is eyes on an 83( A ) reg S3 88" but he's not sure if its exemped or not 🙂
The one i've just bought has a 22m header tank to bottom hose neck where the plastic tank has a 16m neck and i'm pretty sure my last tdi converted 2a with a brass tank had the 16m neck

Is there any difference between a 4 cylinder header tank and a V8 header tank as regards the hose that goes from the header tank to the bottom hose please 🙂
Yeah i've ordered a used 90 / 110 brass header tank, new rad cap and bracket should be here early next week but will need a clean up and re-paint before i fit them
Yes its more or less the same setup other than the large header tank hose that molded to the bottom hose goes into a heater hose as there isn't much room with a tdi in a series as regards the bottom hose and made a bottom hose that just went from the water pump to the rad
Yeah i was thinking of trying a 90 / 110 header tank with a twist cap first and see how that does, hose routing, larger hose from header tank joined into a heater hose and small hose from tank to rad, does that sound right
The overflow goes back into the rad ( 200tdi rad with a tdi header tank ) that i replaced last year and i've only just replaced the cap again to see if it cured it 😒
Not sure as i make sure its tight the on a longish run i can smell antifreeze but gauge reads normal so i stop and check and the cap is loose and coolant under the cap and sometimes the tank is empty

Can anyone shed any light on why my plastic tdi header tank cap unscrews itself and looses coolant please, i hope it isn't but thinking head gasket 😟
