Hi ive got a 4.0SE 2000 excellant con if your interested.

Can you tell me if the pipe from the oil cooler to the top connection of the oil pump has the hole at the end or on the side at the pump end (the end by the filter) The vehicle is a P38 1999 with the thor engine.

Can you tell me if the end of the oil pipe from the oil cooler to the oil pump housing (the one that bolts to the side of the block) is open ended or is blanked at the end and feeds from side. the vehicle is a P38 1999 with the thor engine.

Fuerther to my last posts new land rover short block fitted but missing on no 8 cylinder. Also it now appears engine supplied is a low comp engine what problems am I likely to encounter as original was a high comp engine.:doh:

can anyone tell me if the engine is a high or low comp. type. there are two listed one is part no. stc 1891. high comp 9.35:1. and part no. 1890 low comp. 8.13:1. My RR is a 1999 4.0 SE V reg thor engine type. :doh:

well good news is heads fine there being done over now. Will check your ideas for engines out ta to all. Where is it best to get head gasket set from, thought mayby original ones unless you have any other ideas. Any pit falls to putting lump back in when it arrives,:doh:

Well engine out and stripped heads appear ok they are in for testing as I write this. Block is buggered, bore walls are cracked and brocken in two cylinders one piston buried in side of bore. So the man he say cant do new short block best answer. Think personally something is amiss with the...

cheers Gav just started raining so will have to wait a bit as i am doing it in the drive-way. Assume you put stick through same hole that you use to access torq bolts.

Picked up RR guy gave me con rod as well. Just started engine out would appreciate some advice about engine gearbox seperation eg. torq convertor holding back etc, read posts from Gav etc but would like clarification if poss. Ta. RR is in top condition otherwise inside and out.

Hi new member, just got 1999se 4.0 and its got conrod through sump :doh: but still runs all be it badly. What will i be looking for when I strip it down.
