Freelander 1 Rear wheel cylinder bolts

Yep, just to clarify, when I said copper, I meant Cunifer. I agree, don’t bodge the bad connection with glue. I did all the brake lines (except master -> ABS unit) on several RHD TD4s. It was a while back but I don’t remember any great upheavals to get them fitted. I also got away with not...

Freelander 1 Rear wheel cylinder bolts

Those cheap flaring tools aren’t suitable for steel, generally. Get underneath with a torch and follow the original pipe to the ABS unit. Thread a new length of copper pipe alongside it, to get the route correct, then make the joint into the ABS block. Cut away the old pipe before clipping the...

As above, the bold/italic etc at the top of this box aren’t available. Why?

    Disco 4 (LR4) Tailgate intermittently won’t open - fixed

@Sheppy125 has PMed me about a tailgate problem, but I’ve suggested posting here. Worth checking the tailgate request is getting to the BCM (in glove box), and that the 12V pulse is going out to the actuator. I seem to remember there’s a purple(?) connector under the passenger seat to check...

Gah! It’s all in French. I’ll have to dig back to my GCSEs to read that.

Yes, SPD = that. Modern way is to install one in your fusebox for the whole house. Might be an interesting circuit to troubleshoot, if you want to send one to me. Better still, how about Big Clive on YT?

I would just like to say

All fine here, thanks. I’d forgotten what warm weather was, until a few days ago! What’s the exact fault with your stats? Looks like a fairly simple circuit. You might be getting voltage surges, especially with stormy winter weather, so an SPD might be in order. LM56 most likely candidate...

Bravecto tablets for dogs? Good info on veterinary drugs on the NOAH compendium: https://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/home It has this to say about the drug in collies: “The veterinary medicinal product was well tolerated in Collies with a deficient multidrug-resistance-protein 1 (MDR1 -/-)...

    Disco 4 (LR4) D4 selling advice/testing the water

Sold it to a mate, £4500. Then it started ****ing about with boost leak faults so we’re working through that at the moment.

    Disco 4 (LR4) D4 selling advice/testing the water

This isn’t a for sale thread, as you’ll see. Depending on the response, I might put a proper ad in the correct section. 2010 D4 TDV6 HSE auto with 220,000 miles. 1 year’s MoT. Tyres all very good. Work done in the last 2 years: - Body off, replace EGR and crossover pipes, timing belt and fuel...

    Freelander 1 td4 “the misfire”

It’s been a while since I had a Td4, but they are often reported doing that (mine did). No particular solution as far as I’m aware. You could just ignore it.

    pressing out valve guides

A couple of hours would be more than enough. Might be more effective to warm the head up, for two reasons: 1. You can get a greater temp difference by heating - -18deg is your limit with a normal freezer. 2. The head has more thermal mass, so won’t cool so much and jam the guide as you try to...

    pressing out valve guides

I’ve not done it, but watched the engineering shop do them on my super Dexta head. They milled off the protruding part (to stop it mushrooming and jamming), then used a mandrel in the end of a hand-held air hammer to rattle them out. You might achieve the same by chopping/grinding the excess...

    Td5 clutch plans

I did bend them up, but one of them bent back down in the struggle to get the box on, and got trapped. There was no way I was pulling the box back again, so it got cut off and chucked across the workshop

    Td5 clutch plans

Thanks for your advice @Brown - I fitted the LOF single mass bundle and all went fairly well. I didn’t find the engine crane through the passenger door all that easy, since the crane lifts from too far forward, meaning the transmission is rear-heavy, and the legs mean you can’t get a jack on the...

    Disco 4 (LR4) Tdv6 3.0 noise on deceleration

2010, 216,000 miles. Auto. Seems to make a noise like a turbo wastegate whistler, when the accelerator is released. Like a whistle, but slightly ‘ragged’, descending in pitch, sort of ‘PEWWwwwww’. It happens when stationary, in park or neutral as well, if I rev and release the engine. Doing...

    Disco 4 (LR4) Tailgate intermittently won’t open - fixed

No, BCM was fine, but according to my GAPIID it was reporting tailgate activation, but not sending the signal, as confirmed by multimeter. This was due to an overcurrent lockout unseen by the scan tool. It was the actuator failing that caused the fault. Connector under the seat was fine.
