    200tdi 90 Build

Got the rear central locking working on the rear door. There is a good thread on here about fitting a hawk central locking kit which I followed for the front doors. The rear latch mechanism on the new tdci rear door I fitted didn't have the link arm for central locking so I had to make one out...

    200tdi 90 Build

Cheers everyone for the kind words. Makes the effort very much worth it. Most of the ally parts were cleaned up with scotch bright and painted in high temp paint. The valve cover was sanded with 1800 grit sand paper and then polished up with a combo of brasso and t cut. The engine block I...

    200tdi 90 Build

Been a while since I updated this thread but I have made loads of progress since the last post. Altered the td5 centre console to fit the double din pioneer head unit I've bought. It's got apple car play and Android auto which allows the unit to act as a sat nav through google maps. Few pics of...

    Defender 200tdi bits

Hi, the bulkhead does need some work but wouldn't take much to repair. I'll put some pics up of the worst bits below.

    Wanted Defender TD5 Centre Console

After a centre console from a td5 defender. Need the centre console and the detachable bit that goes around the radio. Don't need any of the switches or buttons just the bare console. Phoned up a ton of breakers so far and none of them have one. :(

    200tdi 90 Build

Cheers bud. Dynamat did cost a bomb but hopefully it will be worth it. Panels do certainly sound alot more solid Seat belts are bolted through to large spreader plates that are on top of the thick reinforcement framework inside the wheel tubs which is then bolted through to the rear cross...

    Wing repair or replace?

If you do decide to replace I'd recommend trying to get a genuine wing that's in good nick. Had a after market replacement on mine and it's a shocking fit. Didn't realize though untill after it was painted :(

    200tdi 90 Build

Update time. Managed to get some more of the bodywork on but it seems lately that everything is a battle to fit. Always start out with a list of things to get done in a day and end up not doing half of it because everything takes twice as long to fit as I think it will. :( Got the Tdci seat tub...

    New Project Arrives

Good tip about spacing the coolant tank. Will have to do that if I ever get my bonnet and wings back from the painter. :(

    200tdi 90 Build

Got the tub back this week from the painter so took advantage of the nice weather to coat the underside of it in Dinitrol. Also did the freshly re-galved wheel tubs at the same time. Tub fitted once it was dry Also managed to get the brake master cylinder, and clutch Assembly's bolted...

    Steering wheel swap

No, a 2015 wheel won't have the prongs on the back of the wheel that cancel the indicators. 2015 on defenders have a different setup to cancel the indicators.

    TD5 heater box seal

Just thought I'd update this thread in case anyone else encounters this problem. Took the advise of zeaphod and made my own seal. Basically I got some 2 inch by 1/2 inch thick sticky back closed cell foam rubber and cut it half and stuck if to the face of the heater box. Once it was mounted up...

First start up after rebuild . . . . What to do?

Thanks for all the replies. Good tip about the stop solenoid. The recon'd turbo came with instructions to turn over the engine without firing it up with the oil feed pipe off and let half a litre of oil out before running it up fully so that answers how to do that. I've seen you can get special...

First start up after rebuild . . . . What to do?

Getting close to the point in my 90 rebuild where I can start the engine for the first time after completely rebuilding it from the bare block up. Looking for advice off anyone who has rebuilt engines about the do's and dont's when starting it up for the first time. My engine is a 200tdi that's...

    200tdi 90 Build

Yea had to trim some of mine down to fit how I wanted. Do look way better than the standard old ones too! They do some nice kit. Be interesting to see what difference it makes to how it drives now. Cheers bud. Been building this in my head for the past 3 years so nice to finally be putting...

    TD5 heater box seal

Think I'm gonna give this a go as I can't find a part number for a seal. I've got some thick closed cell foam I made the gaskets for the pedal boxes out off. Not too bad. It's four bolts, 2 pipes and two cables. There is a video on YouTube that explains how to do it perfectly.

    200tdi 90 Build

Some more big and very expensive boxes got delivered this week so got some big bits done. The first was the new r380 stumpy gearbox which was bolted to the 1:2 ratio transfer box I rebuilt. The r380 came with a heavy duty clutch fork so hopefully no premature clutch failures! Whole lot...

    TD5 heater box seal

Not sure, it came off a td5 bulkhead I bought. Do you know if it's stamped on the box anywhere? Sounds like a good plan. Don't suppose you have any pics of how you done it? Cheers.
