Disco 2 Gear stick & gaiter

OK thanks, is that what it's for ? just a rubber coupling to get rid of vibrations ?

Disco 2 Gear stick & gaiter

Just in the process of replacing my gear stick gaiter. When I removed the old one, I found the actual gear stick was held together with tape & tie wraps ?? When I look at the stick part that the knob screws to, it has a fatter section part before it bolts to the gearbox. Is this some type of...

    strange gizmo under dashboard

The part hanging down with the yellow & green wires is a thermostat, exactly like the type you get in your standard household fridge. The capillary tube is the other part that comes off if, a bit like a stretched out wire coat hangar, that's the part that senses the temperature. So it's some...

    Aldi inspection scope

I have the Aldi Boroscope, I first noticed it when they were selling it for £79.99..... then one day it was £39.99 so I got it, works great for the simple jobs I've used in on :-)

    Disco 2 Oil Leak

I've cured 90% of the oil leaks on my D2 td5 :-) I've noticed that the turbo lower oil pipe return connection is still weeping slightly. I have the gasket (£4) and it's just two small M5 bolts holding it on. Do I need to wait until I've drained the oil at change time, or will there be little...

    Disco 2 Door lock problem

Put the key into the drivers door lock on my D2 for the first time yesterday... the lock just turns both ways 180 degrees with no resistance, like it's not connected to anything inside, which is probably right :-) I need to strip it down to take a look, is this a common problem ? any pointers...

Disco 2 Front fan not working

The original fan on mine looked like it had been buggered for a number of years... it was seized solid and rusted straight through the casing... The throughput of that fan was zero CFM (zero m3/hr) The one I fitted is rated at 1600 CFM (2720 m3/hr) which I admit is less than 4000 m3/hr but...

    Disco 2 Bonnet Switch

If the switch is N/O (normally open) as you state.... that means in the resting state, ie when the bonnet is open, the switch contacts are also open. When you press the switch, ie close the bonnet the switch closes and makes the circuit.. so tie wrapping it down would simulate having the bonnet...

    Disco 2 Bonnet Switch

OK thanks. I'll just replace it as obviously a previous owner has felt the need to tie wrap it down at some time.

    Disco 2 Bonnet Switch

I noticed on my 53 reg Disco 2 that the bonnet switch that's mounted on the nearside inner wing, about 3/4 of the way down is tie wrapped in the down (bonnet closed) state... Does this switch operate a light or something under the bonnet ? I couldn't see one, or is it just part of the...

Disco 2 Gear & Handbrake gaiters

Hi, the gear stick & handbrake gaiters on my 53 Discovery 2 are looking a bit shabby, the black coating has worn off most of them, just showing the gray material underneath. I've seen loads for sale on the net, especially Ebay, does anyone have any recommendations on these, I know quite often...

    Disco 2 4 Amigo lights

The reading of the static voltage on that sensor was 1.2v vs 2.5v on all the others, that was with the car stationary, in fact it was the same when I removed the sensor. I test fitted the new one without fitting it to the hub, and it was 2.5v, so in fact the sensor was faulty. I checked the...

    4 amigos

4 Amigo lights on my disco 2 turned out to be the front left side ABS sensor, replaced it for £12 ...job done if you're anywhere near Newcastle Under Lyme I can read the code on my Hawkeye for you :-)

    Disco 2 4 Amigo lights

OK this is now solved :-) Hawkeye reported LH side front sensor issue. The fault would reset but came back immediately the car moved. I fitted a new replacement sensor...... hats off to the guy that designed it so that the sensor or the plug don't fit through the hole in the hub whilst it's...

Disco 2 Front fan not working

Please post on this once you've done it. My front fan was shot in exactly the same way as yours, it's now removed and waiting for a replacement. If you could put up a few photo's that would be great :-)
