    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

No it’s totally clear and nothing at all that would cause it. The o/rings have been done before at some point as the hole was already cut in the panel. Maybe it got damaged then somehow.

    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

I've found the hole now on the back of the pipe and it feels pretty tiny. In fact it hardly leaks at all once the coolant is up to temperature ! I came to the same conclusion and have ordered some JB Waterweld which has got good reviews. Fingers crossed it does the trick as the pipes are really...

    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

Definitely coolant as blue. I am pretty sure somehow there is a pin hole in the back of the ally pipe but will triple check everything as was trying to avoid removing the dash. I'll get a little camera to pop up there and see if it sheds any light. Would also explain why the footwell was damp...

    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

@Grrrrrr Thanks. So do you mean once they're out you don't think there's anyway of getting them back? Or just without removing the dash fully? I must admit I was surprised myself and not what I expected to find. Also can't seem to find a single other example online or on forums. I can't find...

    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

@Rubberknees Thanks that's good to know. When you changed the heater matrix did you change the feeder & return pipes too? Do they just pull through from under the dashboard and then thread the new ones back through to the engine bay ? Cheers

    P38A Heater matrix o-ring / pipes - advice needed !

So today I decided to replace the o-rings on the heater matrix as footwell damp. Used the 'quick' method of cutting hole for access and all went well. Old o-rings didn't look too bad to my surprise and I couldn't see obvious evidence of a leak but changed them over to the new ones. When I...

P38A How to disassemble wing mirror to spray paint

Hi, I've searched forums, internet and Rave to the best of my ability and can't find anything so am hoping the wisdom of the forum can help. I am replacing both my damaged wing mirrors ( the whole assembly not just the glass ) and as I couldn't find any in the right colour have got a couple of...

    P38A Spraying wing mirrors?

Hi. I have a 2002 P38 4.0. My other half unfortunately met someone going round the corner in the middle of the road on a country lane and need a new wing mirror. I have scoured the internet and local breakers for a replacement but can't find one in the right colour which is 507 Caledonian...

P38 CO Emissions higher at low idle - advice please?

We only use for short trips so that is a good point. How many miles would approximately be needed ?

P38 CO Emissions higher at low idle - advice please?

Thanks Mark. No misfires at all and runs smoothly. The plugs are pretty old so I will replace them as a matter of course but if they are worn out would it not also cause the same issue at higher revs?

P38 CO Emissions higher at low idle - advice please?

They were 22 years old and pretty much welded in to the old pipes so thought new ones were the way to go. Not getting any error codes but I have a lynx eco diagnostics which hopefully will allow me to test / check .... job for tomorrow :)

P38 CO Emissions higher at low idle - advice please?

Thanks as always @kermit_rr. Should have mentioned in the original post (now edited) I replaced both 02 sensors with the cats. Not sure how hot it was as dropped it at garage and picked up later !!

P38 CO Emissions higher at low idle - advice please?

Hi Guys, I replaced the whole exhaust system on my P38 4.0 2002 including cats and 02 sensors recently as the old one had numerous leaks causing a fail in emissions. Before going to my MOT in a few weeks I got it hooked up to an emissions machine and it passed ... just. At low idle it was...

    Different torque values in RAVE

Guys, as always thank you for all the great advice. Torqued the joint between manifold and down pipe to 50NM and no leaks. Sounds so much better and hopefully will get through the emissions at the MOT :)
