    Introduction First Post

Wouldn't be surprised if the water is getting in via the windscreen seal or the seal between the windscreen and the bulkhead.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 diesel starting on 3 cylinders, now running properly, after cylinder head change.

When my diff failed I had it rebuilt and made a modification of my own, something LR should have done. I can now drain the diff, I also use a magnetic plug, and filled it with synthetic castrol syntrac 75 90. By the way mine is rimmini red too

Freelander 2 (LR2) Prospective first time FL2 buyer needs guidance please

My 2010 model has the organ pipes and so will have the swirl flaps, but it's only at 45k miles. Looking at the new manifold it's about £500 do you know if there is a flap removal kit available to take the flaps out of the existing one and blank the openings off?

    Usual intermittent TD5 starting problem

Does the fuel pump whine for several minutes when you switch on the ignition? Its pretty easy and cheap to make up a pressure tester which can be screwed into the temperature sensor opening on the FPR, this will tell you about the pump and the FPR.

Another vote for a fuel filter, could be a good cheap fix, cross fingers.

One thing I have done is to blank off the EGR, this is what sends all the muck down the manifold, with it blanked should only be clean air from the air filter going through.

The FL2 diesel engines are a unit which was designed jointly by Ford and Peugeot citroen you can source some parts from Peugeot and many bits like brake calipers are clearly marked fomoco (mondeo I think). I haven't heard of any problems with swirl flaps but cant claim to know all of its issues.

    Engine oil suitability

If you go to the halfords website and look at the oil there's a spec sheet and it says comma on it, I was surprised they didn't take the brand name off it.

    Engine oil suitability

Not 100% sure on turbo engines but they say: Recommended by Comma for applications requiring: MB 229.1, MB 228.3; VW 501 01, VW 505 00; ACEA A3/B4; API SL CF CG-4 By the way did you know halfords oil is made by comma? I often grab a couple of packs when they have an offer on.

BEST PLACE FOR FRONT DISCS, CALIPERS, PADS

Now thats what I call stuck, Ive taken quite a few difficult ones off but never had to do that. My FL2 disks were still quite thick but rusted up to hell, had to do the handbrake shoes too. Its worth noting that Britpart seem to do two levels of parts, the cheap ons and then the better...

    1993 Defender 90 Rebuild

Those seats look good, were the covers expensive? I did my calipers with special caliper paint, I've used the aluminum high temperature stuff in the past and I'd didn't seem to last long

    A riveting question

I bought a compressed air one from lidle when they had air tools on offer. It doesn't half save some arm aches. As suggested above get blind rivets from e bay. I bought some rivets from screwfix but several of them snapped off leaving a spike still sticking out.

    Replacing Body caps

Cheers Mick I ordered mine a while ago and when they arrived put them in the garage without checking, I looked at several sellers and tried to compare the pictures it seems most likely I need the ones that end in 87. Looked at YRM I have a lot of respect for their stuff and would expect to pay a...

    Replacing Body caps

I must confess I thought it was wrong, if you lay it on its side then it's too shallow and would not be compressed. Looked some online sellers and some look like this and others like the old one

    Replacing Body caps

I have the parts I ordered, but the top panel to caps seal has me wondering. New one is a britpart seal and is quite different from the original, it looks like it has to be fitted on edge with the lip facing down to seat on the capping. Anyone used these seals. New one on left and...
