    oil leak from gearbox?

Phil is that picture from an M62 V8? If someone has removed this would the consequences be too much vacuum and cause vacuum lines to squish shut? we noticed that the servo pipe was almost sucked flat.

    oil leak from gearbox?

Got rave( I think), "Range rover L322 repair manual" about 28mb PDF? where are the wiring diagrams for L322? I'm talking about the old style line drawings. Trying to trace a 2 pin plug same type as the water temp sensor on thermostat housing??, doesn't seem to fit anywhere, so maybe a...

    oil leak from gearbox?

There wasn't much of a drop around the back of the engine. The gearbox could be moved back then dropped down and moved back in stages on the jack and skateboard The leak trail was there before we got the engine restarted so must have been doing it for a while. Where the fuel has evaporated...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Another question is does any one have a wiring diagram with wire colours for the engine bay loom M62 4.4V8? And a Fusebox layout with fuse descriptions and positions? And yet more, when searching around top of engine I found that there seems to be a small fuel leak on the right hand bank...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Is it possible to read the gearbox oil temperature in All comms software? I read that if the cooler pipes are warm then the valves are open and the oil is flowing properly to get the correct level.

    oil leak from gearbox?

From a technical point of view it isn't actually that hard a job. Obviously Phil did the complex work on the valve block, but I reckon anyone with a half decent tool kit and regular old common sense could do it in a reasonable amount of time. I wouldn't even have attempted this in the first...

    oil leak from gearbox?

mmm, well I will support andy if we get more trouble, whatever it takes. I wouldn't want to do one on a drive outdoors again to be honest. It would have to be indoors and at a comfortable working height with plenty of clean space and no time limits. I have been a mechanic all my life and I...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Thanks Gents, I am really pleased there is no sign of oil leaks right now. Car has been up to running temps and sounds sweet. No selection trouble, everything is smooth. I have to hold back a little though as until this car has done a 100 miles or more trouble free, I won't be completely...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Phil, I had a bit of trouble getting the old bearing out of the F Brake. The shoulder inside the aluminium housing looked like the shoulder of the bearing and after knocking it out a piece of the alloy broke off. It is about 10mm to 15mm of the shoulder missing. I don't think it will be...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Hi Phil, Thanks for all your efforts so far. Got this email from JPAT today Andy 'might' have sussed it as regards the input shim, he contacted Sussex auto today and they say that they can get the part number we have been quoting for a reasonable price, which is around £10 within 4...

    oil leak from gearbox?

Thanks Phil, The £110+ as I believe from andys comms with Jpat is a 10 pack of one size shim. I sent email today asking for a quote on the Jpat cat number 185210BC as they were not answering the phone after 5pm. worked out at £11 each, though for that money I would expect a bearing too...

    oil leak from gearbox?

It is an option but the risks involved if it fails? I know they are slim but I think andy would take out a second mortgage/sell one of my kidneys to get the right shim/race to be honest.

Need a input shaft Shim for ZF5HP24

I did ring a guy today locally who said not to worry about it. Is there anyone you know and could recommend who would understand what we are trying to do? I would contact them of course.

    oil leak from gearbox?

Another question Phil, what do you think to grinding the existing shim down 0.5mm and then getting a 0.7mm shim made to go under it? Is this advisable seeing as it is a race? We both have contacts in machining/engineering. Difficult to justify £110+ for one shim and the fact andy has...
