    Does CD player play mp3

This is a good question. I’ve been meaning to try it myself as mine has the 6-CD player and I don’t want to ruin the looks with an after-market unit just so I can connect my phone. The manual does say that anything other than commercially produced CDs may not work. I’ll try and find a blank CD...

A little wonder in the Peaks

One I get my VCU replaced, new tyres etc. I'd be up for something, especially with someone who knows what they're doing so I can get the most out of my FL - I'm based in Leicestershire, but happy to make the trip if it's south peaks area.

Freelander 2 (LR2) how much do you expect to pay for part worn winter tyres?

Any thoughts on the Cooper Weathermaster WSC? I've decided that I cannot afford a new VCU and four/five new premium tyres in a month, and I reckon a new VCU should come with new tyres. The plan will be to swap them over with all season tyres and keep the WSC as a winter tyre.

A new car, therefore, by your definition would have zero miles on the clock.

    VCU Torque test results

The Cross are around £40 cheaper a tyre and are about as well reviewed as the other. Do you use these? Must affect the speedo reading? An extra 50mm won't exactly hit the arches though, have you had any problems with that change? I know this is the wrong thread for tyre chat, but they pretty...

    VCU Torque test results

The difference in wear between the two rears is around 0.9mm, measured over three readings per tyre. I think I've convinced myself to take the financial hit and do the tyres and VCU next month. Currently tossing up between the Michelin CrossClimate or the new GoodYear 4 Seasons Gen 2, either way...

Freelander 2 (LR2) how much do you expect to pay for part worn winter tyres?

What you said is my understanding on the whole German tyre thing, it would literally go against all sense of German logic to change brand new tyres after less than a mile of driving from factory to showroom.

    VCU Torque test results

Tyres are all the same make: the rear pair have even wear, the front pair is more worn but to the same amount each side - which is something I believe is to be expected. I'm also now doing weekly pressure checks. I don't think three letters in motoring have ever caused me this much worry as V C...

    VCU Torque test results

My main hope is that it'd be okay until the start of December, November will be new tyres - then I was going to replace the VCU as I have no record of it being changed. Is there a consensus on here regarding going for new vs reconditioned? Both Bell and (for example these) offer a 12-month...

    VCU Torque test results

Hah. Yeah. Had to happen that time! In its defence, that was the 6th time! I did a test with 5kg, same length which was 49secs but not filmed. But, yes - I’ll use something stronger tomorrow. Is there any validity in measuring the temperature of the VCU? I have a laser infrared thermometer...

    VCU Torque test results

Not perfect, but I'd appreciate some instinctive feedback from those that know. Bar was 1.2m long, weight on the end was 7.5kg. If it's uncertain, I'll get something sturdier than a plastic broom handle from work tomorrow and re-do it! EDIT: TD4 Sport, 103k miles.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Plan is to keep the original, clean it, keep it, then refit the day before, then swap back.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Decided to take the risk and change front brakes myself including both callipers as one or both were sticking and braking was becoming a nightmare. Fitted EBC yellowstuff discs and pads and so far so good, done plenty of testing in a nearby car park: they look good as well. Next step is it fit...

Freelander 2 (LR2) what must the tyre pressure be?

Keep in mind that when I put air in mine at a petrol station, to what I thought was 30psi, it turned out that using a more accurate gauge they were actually at 27psi. After reading up on the importance of maintaining the correct pressure for the 4wd system, I'm checking them weekly from now.

+1 for this, it will give you a short-term improvement but you'll be brushing your headlights as often as your teeth!

I'm about to test my VCU as per the instructions, in regards to the weight you add - should the 8kg include the weight of the 1.2m bar, or is that just the deadweight attached?

Can you recommend/link a specific manufacturer for an EGR kit? I'm looking at the moment but can't make my mind up as to which one to get, especially with the wide range of prices.

Freelander 1 New to LR; new to Freelander; newish to a spanner

Thanks, I think that's going to be very useful. To give the mechanic credit, he did say he did the wheel-up test as the test - so maybe he's on this forum! That said, advice noted and I'll do my own test ASAP - better safe than sorry. The good thing is that I want in after spending a few...
