Do you mean the turbo vent filter? If so, then one end is open to the outside air. I'm pretty sure that you should pay the £2.50 and get yourself a replacement filter ASAP. Can't be good for the turbo.

Are you referring to the vacuum pipe, or the part which is clamped in place using the jubilee clamp? Both seem okay, but will try plugging up the vacuum pipe as it’s a bit too short to fit easily on the mod.

I’m going to hijack this thread if you don’t mind and ask for some advice re: smoking; I’ve just fitted an EGR bypass, and replaced all the hoses with DPH silicone ones. Just went to start it up, and through 2000rpm smoke appears from around the EGR area. I suspect I have a dodgy injector...

Finally... ...got new tyres on the beast. I can say with certainty that Sunny 3800 tyres are dreadful in every sense. Even got a discount of these new Coopers, despite being as hard to get in my size as unicorn sweat.

True, but as they're meant to be replaced every 70,000 miles it's good practice to do so if there's no evidence of a recent change. I did the OWUT and it took just under a minute.

As I'm in to my third month of owning a FL1, I can offer a newbie perspective. Much will depend on what you're coming from. Sorry, my post missed out that this was specifically for winter tyres. I’d be keeping the 18” wheels and fitting summer tyres when the time was right. I’d save almost £200 on buying smaller alloys and paring then with Michelin tyres which were just too expensive in 235/50/18. I’m certainly not...

Firstly, will a FL with roof rails in place work in a standard automatic car wash? Secondly, is this where you’d expect the temperature gauge to be after a 85-mile run in around 10degrees?
