The sense of achievement when you finish it is massive. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it just knowing that I built it. Not all my friends like it but I wouldn't have any other car.

From what I understand the emissions should be tested using the criteria from the previous engine so there must be something seriously wrong if its failing compared with the series engine specs

Not much to report other than at high speeds (55+) I get violent shaking through the steering. Decided to take a look at the props and the front has a large amount of play in the slider joint splines. Looks like I'll be needing a new one, just need to decide what brand. Clip of the play...

What vehicle? Most decent garages would adjust them during the MOT at no charge as usually its a quick job

My thoughts exactly. Mine needed a VIC and they definitely wanted the bonnet open. From what it sounds like the car doesn't even sound like it's drivable? It also needs a current MOT certificate.

So now all of you have seen the whole rebuild. How much do you think it would all be worth? Not looking to sell, just after a valuation of it from the people that have seen it rebuilt.

So, finally got insurance yesterday so took the car for a spin this afternoon. :) Also got my raptor dash and cubby box fitted.

Few bits done, got towbar electrics sorted, LED strip lights fitted in the back and a pair of 6x9's fitted behind the seats in custom boxes bolted to the tub bulkhead. Also completed my pass plus so one step closer to getting insurance :)

I'll be off to uni in September so won't even have time to work on my own even though I'm still on the lookout for the next project :)

Last weekends progress. Got the fuse box wiring sorted and board for storage box fitted with speakers which will get wired up with some 6x9's when I get a head unit. V5 also came this week but won't be March until I get insured :(

Check out sugru on amazon. It's a self setting rubber that's really useful for many things.

Update: VIC was done late in December so filled out the V62 and apparently the V5 can take up to 6 weeks to turn up :mad: So still waiting for that as without it, it can't be taxed. A few jobs done. Got a storage box made up for the back, aux fuse box and centre console plate fitted and wires...

Just be interesting to see how it turns out :P I think white can look really good on some :)

hmmmmmm, comes back as registered in 72 but uses springs, defender body, defender running gear and 200tdi........

So is white the final colour then?

Minimum for flux for 17 year olds seems to be about £2.5K. Try aviva as a van, do a search on here and you'll work out how to do it. I'm gonna be sorting mine out with aviva in the next month and my quote is 1300
