    laning in Southampton area?

Muddy bottom is good. The plain is about an hour drive but I'd never go alone. There are a fair number of lanes near petersfield and alton. Where I live, near the hamble river there are a couple but nothing really worth travelling far for.

Rear fog light- how to change

If it is the square type, if you're replacing it anyway, best bet is to take the lens off and light fitting out and drill out the top of the plastic mouldings that hold the studs onto the housing. The wires should just have bullet connectors that go through the grommets on the tub floor

    1989 90 Rebuild

Haven't written an update in a while. Been busy at uni so haven't had any time to drive the car at all. You may remember that my power steering box was leaking. I had my dad remove it and rebuild it with new seals but unfortunately the box was too worn so I had to order a recon box from paddocks...

300tdi smoking like a trooper in norway

Niall, had the same problem with one of our volvo's on the way back from Holland. When the engine was running the pressure in the cylinder kept the water out. As soon as the engine was turned off, the pressure in the header tank forced the water into the cylinder through the crack in the head...

Try earthing the motor directly to a good earthing point and make sure the grease in the motor hasn't dried out as it causes the linkage to stick

    90 as a daily commuter

I drive my 1989 200tdi 90 everyday to work (60 mile round trip). No insulation, no carpet. Admittedly I haven't driven it in the middle of winter yet but I get about 33mpg. It may be noisy and uncomfortable but there's no other vehicle that would get me to work with a big smile on my face :)
