Newbie after some help with her TD4

Don't forget to check your low pressure fuel pump, if it's dying it will make the car struggle up hills. Mike

    Noisy Freelander on motorway

A new set of pads is only £25 (Delphi's) so put a new set on anyway if your unsure. As a thought, as @Nodge68 suggested the tyres, there isn't a small balloon or chunk out of one of them? Mike

    Freelander 1 Noisy power steering

Well the fluid needs replacing then. That always makes the pump noisy. Get a big syringe and suck fluid out to 1cm from the base of the reservoir, then put new in. Turn the wheel lock to lock a couple of times and repeat the fluid change 5 or 6 times. Do this first, see if it solves the...

    Freelander TD4 -Dashboard error

The canbus uses the display binnacle as a hub. Sometimes the solder cracks or component's become lose. This causes a fault within the dash. It's easier to buy a second hand unit off eBay than to repair it. Only the odometer will show the mileage of the car it came from, no big deal, not an...

    Noisy Freelander on motorway

Check all bits of plastic trim plus mud guards.under the car check the plastic bits that are between the sump guard and wheel arch (front of front wheels) also check wheel arch liners. Give everything a good pull and tug, if it's only happening at high speed the part will probably look ok. Mike

rear sub frame passenger side rotted all the way through mot fail

If the rest if it's ok, leave alone. Just get it covered in rust protection of your choice. I still use waxoyle (old school) but there are better alternatives. Mike

    Other Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic

Far as I'm aware it's the same housing as an FL1, so just pull. Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

Just put a cheeky bid in for the 2002, they might come back with a compromise, you can always say no. They must want to get rid of it by now. Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

@GrumpyGel Top one is in good condition, but very expensive, I doubt he'll move much on the price of that one. But the second one is good for its age, and as it's wof and other thing has expired you could get a deal. I like the pre facelift cars, it's only the seats that aren't as comfy as the...

@GrumpyGel The first red one says slipping gears on steep hills, AVOID, unless you fancy stripping an auto box  The silver one looks a better bet, would you be able to test drive before buying, or is it just bid and cross your fingers? Mike

Might be worth looking at something like this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F332730163097 Hope the link works Mike

    Leaking Roof

Yes, there should be covers over the holes. Maybe stick some mastic in it until you can track down a cover. Or someone on here will suggest a different solution. Leaky roofs are not uncommon in a Freelander. Mike

    Leaking Roof

Welcome, You found an 11 year old question. So do you have a problem with your sunroof/ roof leaking. If so, do you have a 3 or 5 door version and how bad is it. If not, then hello again Cheers Mike

Freelander 1 Another rear tailgate issue...

Mine came with factory fitted tow bar and single electrics. When we added the second socket we found they'd put the relay in ready to use. It didn't work, and sent the lights into disco mode when we plugged the towing electrics in. Good old land rover, quality parts used always:rolleyes: Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think mines a Bosch unit, it's the one with allen key bolts holding it in. No obvious way of adding a line in socket. The cd unit has a multi-plug adapter on the back, but again no obvious way to wire in a aux. Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

Put this in the car yesterday. Can't knock it for £50. DAB radio with Bluetooth and an SD card slot. Came with an arial, cigarette lighter adapter with 2 power sockets and a USB power cable, and a suction window clamp. Also a line in cable for if you have an aux socket. Took about 20 minutes...

Freelander 1 Another rear tailgate issue...

I see what @Nodge68 is thinking. If a dual electrics was installed there should be a 7 way relay in the boot. Maybe someone stuck one in with the idea of wiring it up later. Worth a look, most towing relays are Chinese garbage. Mike
