That is possibly why it worked 1st time when I went back to it Gazman,key maybe works one way and not other.the key is well worn to be fair ,you could ride bare ar*e to Gloucester on it !

thanks for the offer Gazman ,unbelievable but I left it alone for a couple of hours and went back to it and the key turned and it started straight away !! Still need to get the new barrel in when it comes but I was keen to get it to start as I was blocking in my wife's car on the drive with it !

Ah right,thats why i cant see how to get them out,think i will need to drill them as theres nothing at all showing of the heads

what is the best way to get barrell out ,it looks like someone has knocked off the heads off the 2 bolts holding it in?? all i can see top and bottom is the stud

Hi all Its really annoying,the ignition used to stick and need a bit of wriggling to get it to turn with the key. Ive ordered a new barrell learlier this week off the bay but its not come yet and key will not turn at all now !! ive got covers off steering collum but i cant see how to undo the 2...

I think I will order a new stat anyway,I've also found out today I have no horn working!!

I've had a bit of a play around with the sender wire for temp gauge today and it seems to now be working!! Although it's only just now moving off the cold it's going nowhere near halfway on the gauge..is this normal?? Theres plenty of coolant in

Thanks for all the replys ,there is some really good information around on this forum on how to sort the niggles! I think I really should start by fixing the ignition barrel first as I can see me getting stuck somewhere before long ,took a bit of twisting and turning today to get it to turn

So I bought myself a 94plate 300tdi 110 hardtop Love it but I'm beginning to understand what defender ownership is all about ! I have so far ..leak from transfer box,leak of engine oil,source unknown yet Sticking ignition barrel,leaky power steering fluid,clunk on taking up drive which I knew...

How much of a job is it to do the timing belt myself? im no mechanic but ive done my fair share of bits and bobs on cars over the years

Seems to be in between gearbox and transfer box where it's leaking? Running down transfer box bit coming from somewhere nearer gearbox. I've lost no engine oil at all in 600 miles of driving but transfer box was only holding around a litre when I drained it and refilled.going to drain/refill...

I've tried to ad a photo of the defender but can't seem to do it. It seems I have a few fluid leaks to investigate as well looking at the pattern on my driveway !! Gearbox/transfer box leak,powersteering leak..luckily I don't seem to have any engine oil leaks though
