I've been to Land Rover today and had to order the fan blades. They are sold separately luckily so I don't have to pay their price for the viscous unit. I did think about welding and reinforcing but the plate is buckled now and I imagine if its not straight it could put pressure on the pulley...

You can see from this picture that the metal plate fallen apart. I moved all the bolts round one into the next hole along while I have been looking for a new one and that bit of metal has also failed.

Yeah I've had a look on there before so might give them a call and see what they can do as they are only an hour away. Took out the cd changer yesterday as it was knackered. Thought I'd read something somewhere about using the 3 & 6 pin plugs but can't find it now.

Only just got round to fitting the cable on my 2003 vogue. Had it all apart but can't find that connector anywhere behind the dash so I'm thinking it's possibly in BMWs and not on the RRs even though it's the same system.

Got the headlight and front indicator now. Also discovered it wasn't the bearings in my electric fan but was indeed the mounting plate on the viscous fan. The metal around all four bolts had cracked and the fan blade was hanging off!

Yeah I'm taking off the Intercooler and the crank case breather as well. While I'm there ill do the drive belt and possibly the gearbox oil and filter but maybe not as I'm working on the floor. Wil there's a PM coming your way.
