    Funny smell

All oils have been changed recently in mine so I dont think that will be it.

    Funny smell

Guys, my landy smells funny and I need some help finding out why :pound: Ok, the smell is best described as a hot rubbery smell. Kind of like if you stuck a brand new tyre outside in the sun for a few hours and then stuck your nose right on it. This only happens when the engine is under...

    1996 Defender 90 300tdi buying advice/help

Looks in terrible condition. What sort of price was this up for?? Looks like the chassis needs changing or a hell of a lot of work doing to it. Leave it there and keep looking. There is much better out there than this.

    Drop arm alignment! My mistake

Got the bugger now. Power bar with a 3 foot extension bar and me hanging all my weight off it and it just cracked and left me flat on my back with a bashed elbow and a very quick look around the neighbours windows to make sure no one had seen me make a knob of myself :D

    Drop arm alignment! My mistake

Well 130 ft/lbs means nothing to me, but I presume that must be quite a lot. Plus the god knows how many years of rust added to it. Think I best put some more effort into it, or find a friend with bigger muscles than I have got :D Thanks mate

    Drop arm alignment! My mistake

Seems as you have just changed your drop arm - maybe you can help me!! Is the 34mm nut a normal thread or a left hand thread?? Just had a power bar with a 2 foot extension and still cant get it to budge??

    Spare Wheel ?

Not seen the one you are talking about but I hate the ones that sit off centre. Even the standard wheel mount on the back door sits slightly off centre which drives me mad!!! I'm a bit weird like that!! The one I made sits bang in the middle, which does make it slightly harder to get to the...

    Wheel offset

If you look at my profile pic - my wheels are 16x7 with 0 offset. Tyres are 285/76 - 16 and stick outside the arches a fair bit. Would not be quite so bad with a normal shape tyre though, as the Insa's lugs stick out a long way!!

    Spare Wheel ?

I'd fit a spare wheel carrier (swing away) as a wheel and tyre that big hanging on your back door will have it 'broke' in no time at all. My door started struggling so I built my own swing away wheel carrier as they are pretty bloody pricey for what they are.

    Defender drop arm nut size??

Thanks mate. Think mine must be a 34mm. Doesn't look big enough to be a 36mm I dont think.

    Defender drop arm nut size??

Does anyone know off hand what size the nut is on the drop arm. Just went to remove mine and my biggest socket (32mm) is not big enough. Dont want to go and buy one until I know what size it is for sure. Cheers

    Cb Aerials

Just keep the second one as a spare. Wire it all up but just leave the plug close by the CB radio somewhere. The amount of times aerials get pulled off or broken when used for greenlaning, which then leaves you without an aerial. Plug in the spare one and off you go. Thats what I do anyway...
