Have you considered a battery one? I think they can be quite good. You can get different ones of course, but have a look at the 12v Milwaukee for up to 4.8mm aluminium.
Thanks Litch I will look at getting one of those.
Whilst I would love a truck of your quality I certainly couldn't afford it. It does look like it's virtually like new - well better than new actually.
When it comes to that time, good luck with the sale.
Do you know what number the gauge is Litch and what thread the sender is for a 300tdi?
I like the look of your dash, but then I think your truck is stunning.
Also remember to get a jar and some clear pipe for bleeding. I also had a syringe that I used to remove the brake fluid from the reservoir so I could replace it with new - that's if you are changing the fluid!
And don't forget the flare nut spanners.
And brake pipe clips.......
And check...
I have a pipe bending tool but to be honest I never really used it. I found the radius was a bit big and actually used an old runner off a sliding door.
May be worth having a search for how to make brake pipes as I am sure people recommend a particular socket size as the smallest to use to...
Forgive my ignorance but how can you tell which is top and bottom no springs. I have had all my springs off and I can't say they looked different from top to bottom!
This is why I used brass fittings. The ones I took off twisted the pipe when I unscrewed them - you can't exactly put a pair of grips on the pipe to stop it twisting. Unfortunately the brass fittings are a lot more expensive than the zinc plated ones. I still smear the fittings in Lanoguard...
I am no electrical guru, in fact I know sweet fa about electrics, so please consider this when reading this reply.
I think 87 and 87a are an either/or connection - not both.
NC = normally closed
NO = normally open
You want to connect to the NO as the circuit then is normally open until you...
I think the Trailer fitters toolbox videos on youtube have one showing how to check the steering. It may be worth having a look at that. Also what tyres have you got on? Mine came with very aggressive insa turbo special tracks on and the steering was better with a more road biased all terrain...
Unfortunately I can't help, but it may be an idea to describe the wire colour for the parts you are describing. It's not always the easiest to tell from a photo (well not for me anyway!).
Good luck with it - electricery is something I dread!!!
Look at some of the Britanica Restorations and Trailer fitters toolbox videos and decide if you want to take on the task.
I am no mechanic and I have had the track rod of on a number of occasions including changing the rubber boot. I found the fiddley bit is putting the boot retaining clip back...
Try joining "Lancashire land rover club" on Facebook. Nice bunch of folks and possibly be able to give you some places to try.
As has been said, post up some pictures and possibly copy and paste the advisories onto here. Lots of knowledgeable folk on here to steer you in the right direction...
What age is your vehicle and what model. I have a 90 that had a 200tdi rear axle and now it has a 300tdi replacement. The bolts were different from one to the other (200tdi had hex head and 300tdi had bi-hex).
Also remember that they are 10.9 strength, not 8.8!
I think part of the decision needs to be how long you keep the truck. If its going to be with you for a while then doing additional work due to having things already stripped is likely going to save lots of time in the future. Also being able to fit corrosion resistant parts or clean and...
I have a habit of "was that enough - perhaps a bit more".
I used to do a lot of m8 and m10 through work but they were 8.8s and generally the ones for the LR are 10.9s. When I torque a 8.8 to 10.9 spec it doesn't feel right, as though the screw is deforming.
Hopefully the more experience I...
The problem is, even when using a torque wrench, you never know if damage has been done previously (as I think was possibly the case with some of mine). However, when using a torque wrench, at least you know it was not due to being ham fisted!
I have very little mechanicing experience and have stripped threads in ally at far lesser torque than I expected. Some I did using the lower settings on a torque wrench and it certainly p****s you off.
I decided I needed a 1/4" torque wrench and found this. Its not one of the expensive ones but...
