    Series 3 Blade fuse box

This fusebox won't do what you want. The idea is that a heavy battery cable goes to the stud at the bottom and the individual circuits are fused from that. On a series, each fuse has individual wires going to it, and some go through the ignition key. Half the circuits have no fuse at all! What...

Slow to start up first thing then fine

Mine had that, turned out to ve the beginnings of a blowing head gasket between two cylinders. Could also be the injectors not spraying correctly. Worth having them reconditioned anyway as they've probably never been looked at.

miles are racking up more than they should

Dated receipt and engine details, plus the recorded mileage of the vehicle at each MOT would be enough to satisfy any future buyer that the engine has had less use than the odometer suggests. But the odometer is attached to the car, not the engine, so shouldn't be changed.

miles are racking up more than they should

You are right of course. If it's properly documented and the potential buyer is informed then there's no issue. You don't go off the mileage of the engine but by how far the car's driven. So there's nothing to 'correct'.

miles are racking up more than they should

Mileage is always based on the car not the engine. If it's been changed to km, changing it back to miles should correct the value automatically. But knocking a random amount of miles off the mileage based on the condition of the engine is fraud and can get you into trouble..

    200tdi into td5 dash

The clutch switch is used to signal the TD5 ECU that you're changing gear. It helps stop the revs flaring up when you push the clutch pedal. A 200tdi isn't that sophisticated and doesn't use the clutch switch so you can ignore it.

Defender TD5 A/C Fan on with Ignition!

The fan relay uses a switched ground from the ECU to turn it on, and the relay positive comes from the main relay which is powered up by the ECU.Sounds like the output from the ECU is always at ground hence it's coming on all the time- the positive side switches off when the ECU shuts down hence...

    Any recommendations for rear wiring?

Extra power supplies to the rear are always useful. If you have twin or 13-pin trailer electrics you need two power supplies. Plus adding things like rear power sockets or work lamps is much easier if the wiring's already installed. Route them into the battery box and make use of them as and...

    Series 3 19j Radiators into s3

Did you get this figured out in the end? Would be good to see your setup :)

    High intensity rear led lights

It also differs for optional lamps- which any added lamps come under. In that case, a tail lamp that is just a tail lamp only has to be a red lamp, with no other requirements. But sensibly, it should be easily distinguishable from a brake lamp.

    Yay or Nay guys?

I lile the round spotlamps on the bar as they always look better there. Maybe it's because they line up with the main headlamps. Square ones (fog lamps?) Look best directly on the bumper (under looks wrong on a landy) under the headlamps. They fit nicely between the bar and bumper. If they are...

    Oil pressure sensor for gauge

Nice one! Presumably the Smiths gauge was the original and not aftermarket so that sensor would work. Eventually I may fit a combined pressure/temperature gauge which are all mechanical so one less thing to worry about, but the one I have will do for now. Should stop me being paranoid about the...

    Oil pressure sensor for gauge

Gained an old Smiths oil pressure gauge from a stage 1 V8, to fit in my 109. Anyone know which sensor I need to make it work in a 19J engine? I believe the 90/110 had a pressure gauge as an option but don't know if it was the same.

    Electrical connectors.

Square black one is a "junior power timer" connector. Commonly used for injectors and temperature sensors. The blue and white connectors are standard Land Rover header connectors (don't know the make) and are used as a bus bar instead of a spliced joint. Used to collect e.g. all the left...

So why does the engine-swap myth persist?

You can get something in and 'running' in a weekend, but that doesn't mean you've done it right. Factor in a major engine service while it's out as no doing so is stupid (unless you know the service history of the donor vehicle) and all the random parts you need to modify, replace or generally...

    Hybrid 300tdi

The motor spins at the gearbox output speed, all the time. There is no rpm matching needed as they are mechanically connected and spin together. The applied motor current then determines the driving or braking torque provided by the motor. A free-spinning motor with no load applied has minimal...

19J Pistons Cracked - Replace or Try to find a 200tdi

Remember it's not 2006 anymore, and there simply aren't loads of rusty 200tdi Discos just hanging around with good engines anymore. Those engines that are available will likely be very high mileage by now and could be equally knackered. Even 300tdi engines will all be 20 years old now at least...

    High level lights

They come under optional lamps as far as the road vehicle lighting regs are concerned. I might be wrong but for stop and tail lamps I don't think there's any restriction on height.

    High level lights

Something like a LED light bar mounted above the back door would work well as a combined work/reverse light. Legally speaking you shouldn't have more than two reverse lights on the vehicle.

    High level lights

Indicators may cause issues with the trailer warning light unless you converted to LEDs. But nothing to stop you putting an extra pair of standard stop/tail lights up there. Would be a good substitute for a third brake light in the back window.
