Do you sleep in your Landy?

Me and the missus Spent 6 happy weeks sleeping in our 110 on our Honeymoon as we toured the UK. Made a cheap fold-out bed, with storage cupboards and a work surface/trunk on the other side. Comfier than my own bed, despite me being 6'1. Stuck a Caranex on the back for extra storage and somewhere...

Chassis History, Shot in the dark?

Hi all, I've been wondering recently if i have a slightly different chassis to most defenders, vehicle is a '93 200tdi 110 hard-top. I only wonder this because, when i park next to other 110's, mine sits about an Inch higher than others, despite standard height springs and usually being full of...

    BAD NEWS! Advice needed

Right, arranged with the garage to do the work, so bread and beans for me for the foreseeable. Probably going to keep the old bus after all. Thanks for all your help, i'll let you know how it goes. Steve

    BAD NEWS! Advice needed

Thanks for all the advice chaps, sounds like i can't afford to sell! I can't afford to take any less that £4000 for it with the new gearbox, or £3000 without, so it looks like i'll have to bite the bullet. Will talk to the garage tomorrow and see what they think- i've got to know them pretty...

    BAD NEWS! Advice needed

That's what i feared. Bulkhead was replaced with a sound one from a later model. Chassis is ok, as far as i know- had a new x member with extensions. Pretty sure doors are ok. Also has new starter motor, alternator, swivel pin, CV and brake tune up in the past couple of months.

    BAD NEWS! Advice needed

Thanks for the advice chaps! Food for thought. Gearbox was making a sound like a gearbox eating another gearbox, as well as whining above 30mph- louder than the engine and the radio. So i dropped it at a land rover garage i've used a lot and trust. They're going to confirm the diagnosis for...

    BAD NEWS! Advice needed

Hi all, Feeling a bit sorry for meself today. Just heard from the garage that the gearbox is shagged on my '93 200tdi 110. The cost of sorting the problem would be around £1000 (Including cost of gearbox and and vat). The vehicle has done 197,000miles. Here's my problem- should i do the...

    T-Box Questions

Hi all, I have searched this, but can't find anything of much use-maybe someone can point me in the right direction. . . I have a couple of questions about my t-box- vehicle is a '93 110 200tdi with LT77, and a milage of 200,000 Question 1, Is there any way to tell what transfer box i...

Defender Clunk (again) A challenge for you!

Cheers chaps! CV's seem to be fine, but I'll double check to make sure. I haven't yet checked the engine mounting bushes- so will do that too. The clunk wasn't happening with the old suspension, but I did drive about 2000miles in the month between fitment and the noise appearing, and I've...

Defender Clunk (again) A challenge for you!

Thanks for your help! A-frame seems fine, according to the garages. The suspension is all nearly new all the way round, with heavy duty springs, shocks and steering damper. Cheers, Steve

Defender Clunk (again) A challenge for you!

Hi all, I posted a similar topic to this a little while ago sand got some great suggestions, but unfortunately nothing worked so i'm trying again. The vehicle is a 1993 200tdi 110 with 190k on the clock. The problem is a clunk when turning left. It also happens when pulling off sometimes...

    Steering Knock Diagnosis?

Mornin' all. Got under the vehicle this morning, and had a play with the radius arms, and track rod ends, all of which seem solid (the track rod ends pivot on the ball joints, but there doesn't seem to be any extra play). I also jacked each front wheel and spun it whilst on full lock, but...

    Steering Knock Diagnosis?

Evenin' all. Apologies if this is a dumb question, i've tried to search but not come up with anything obvious. Vehicle is a 1992/3 200tdi 110 hard top with 185k on the clock, used daily, runs sweetly. Usually. Owned her for 16months and will never, ever sell her. I have a slight steering...

How to stop the shock absorber from turning when undoing the bottom mount?

I used a Boa Constrictor strap wrench for mine. I bout it for about £4 and have since used it for more jobs than I can remember. The strap it uses is rubber so doesn't eat into plastic or paint like a chain wrench.

    Tired

I had a set of the new Continental Cross-Contact AT's. I got them cheap and was in a hurry. So far I've got nothing but praise for them- towed a tralier of bark through a bog, where I totally expected to get stuck and went straight through without any spinning. They're also pretty good on the...

Hi Jason, I recently saw your picture of your Citroen BX seats in your 110- I'm thinking of doing similar to mine, but was wondering if much modification was required? I'd rather stay away from welding up brackets if poss. Any thoughts much appreciated. Steve
