converting Genuine 200tdi Defender to Petrol.

Couldn't agree more!!! Fuel consumption wouldn't be much of a problem for me- it's the ease of conversion that's important at the moment as money is tight for the next few months, but i could do with not having to park her up until i can afford the conversion.

Thanks! Looks like I might check out the 2.5petrol option then. Cheers!

converting Genuine 200tdi Defender to Petrol.

I'd thought about that too- but without fixing the engine trouble it's not worth anything. So I'd have to pay for the engine to be fixed up before I sold it. I've also wasted so much money on the truck already I'm reluctant to sell it as I'd loose all the money I've spent on it, I think that...

converting Genuine 200tdi Defender to Petrol.

It may seem like a stupid thing to be thinking about but. . . I work in London and not being able to drive the Fender to work is starting to get on my nerves (LEZ Nonsense). Seeing as how my turbo sounds like it's dying and I've started burning a lot of oil and it's not running smoothly at...

    Oh Cock. Turbo's misbehaving

Well, driven it a bit today and the buzzing seems to have stopped. The whistle only happens when the engine is hot. I think something serious has happened as it's not running smooth and seems down on power. Feels a bit like the motor's about to give up. :(:(:(

    Oh Cock. Turbo's misbehaving

Just thinking about it- the oil was falling out the bottom of the turbo and was being splattered around by air coming from the pipe. Sounds like an oil seal to me. New turbo?

    Oh Cock. Turbo's misbehaving

Hi all, Apologies if this a daft question- i know next to nothing about turbos. When driving to my parents house in Staffs Moorlands from Herts last night my Turbo started intermittently making a horrible noise- not all the time, but every 20/30miles or so there would be a couple of seconds of...

    Worrying Clunk

It could also be the input gear on the T-Box. Not sure if R380's had cross-drilled shaft to T-Box, but i know on LT77's they weren't causing oil starvation. Sure enough mine was totally ruined (admittedly it had been clunking for about 20k miles). When it was replaced all clunking went away. If...

Thanks Ferretboy, i'll double check it. Cheers!

    200tdi Ticking noise

Thanks chaps! Station house- yes it did tick before the new lift pump and I *think* it does it when stationary, but I can't really hear over the general din of the engine. It definitely gets quicker/louder with engine revs under acceleration. The manifold gasket was replaced about 18 months ago...

    200tdi Ticking noise

Hi all, I have a couple of ideas about what could be causing the Ticking noise on my 200tdi, but wanted to ask you geniuses what you thought before i start dismantling things :D Essentially, there is a ticking noise coming from my 200tdi. I can only hear it when in the cab (suggesting back...

    Defender Front seats pair

Hi all, Having just replaced the seats in my 200tdi 110, the old one's are looking for a new home. They are a little bit tired, and the driver's one would probably benefit from a new base as it's a bit ripped. Passenger one has had a replacement base fairly recently by the looks of it. The...

    Goodbye 90, hello 110 project

Cheers! I got a couple of 1/2 leather seats out of a Rover 600. They're a lot thicker than the originals, but perfect for me. The height adjustment also means i can get to the battery without having to drill a hole in the seatbox. Fitting them was dead easy, but one of the spot welded plates...

    Goodbye 90, hello 110 project

Nice work! Is that Exmoor matting? I'm looking at some for mine as the original's pretty knackered. Spent yesterday fitting new seats, which i'm very happy with, but they look out of place as the floor's so scabby! ;)

Can I get a parking permit for a Defender 110 in London ?

LEZ was just an excuse to leave really- 110 is a hard-top so not exempt. Still have to commute in on the train for the time being, but the Herts countryside beats the city anyday!

Can I get a parking permit for a Defender 110 in London ?

Think it depends on the Borough. I used to live in Ealing and had no problem with my 110 (Until the LEZ forced me out of London). I think they have a set of figures that they refer to- they never measured mine which has HD suspension and a roof-rack helping it stand much higher than that!

    loosing power

Hi Sounds like you've done a lot of the obvious things. It also sounds like a problem i've had/am having with my 200tdi 110. Mine seems to have been getting gradually slower over the past few months- but only noticed when i took it out with some other defenders who left me standing- and i have...
