    Which Temp Sensor

Thanks both- i've got a lot to learn about this engine! I haven't disconnected the battery yet, but i'll do that this weekend and see if it makes a difference. The Air flow meter was a brand new OEM equivalent, so I'. be surprised if it is that, but at this stage anything is possible!

    Which Temp Sensor

Hi, To be honest, I think the only way I can reset the ECU is via the Air Flow Meter- I've tried the temp sensors, but had no effect. I haven't tried it with the Throttle Pot, as the connector's hidden beneath the Plenum and annoying to get at, but replacing it has had no effect. I do know the...

    Which Temp Sensor

Hi all, Sorry if this is a stoopid question. . .but: I have very strange happenings with my '97 3.9v8- i have to reset the ECU (usually by unplugging the Air Flow Meter) at the start of every journey, otherwise it is basically undriveable. Once reset it runs sweetly for the rest of the...

intermittent misfire 3.9 doin my nut in!

Thanks for the replies chaps! I'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to a faulty Air Mass Meter. If she's running rough, i disconnect the AMM for a few seconds, then plug it back in and she runs like a swiss watch again. Does this sound like a reasonable diagnosis? The part's inly a few montsh...

intermittent misfire 3.9 doin my nut in!

Hi chaps, thanks for the replies. The engine is a 1997 3.9v8 from a disco auto. It has a custom ecu that's been rewired so it runs without the lambda sensors or cat, and was working beautifully. It was rewired by an engine builder in Chester- a guy who really knows his stuff. Its running...

intermittent misfire 3.9 doin my nut in!

Hi all, I have searched this, but struggling to find a decent answer. Well, my 3.9 fender conversion was running like a dream for about 5k miles. . .until recently when it's developed an intermittent misfire (I think), causing an occasional backfire and Its down on power. It's also...

which temp gauge/sender for 3.9 fender

Hi All- i have searched but can't find an answer. I have an ex-200tdi defender now with an ex-disco 3.9v8. The temp gauge reads in the red all the time even though it doesn't overheat. I was wondering what gauge/ sender i need. Part numbers would be massively appreciated too. Sorry if its...

    Clunking and juddering transmission- 110

Thanks Redhand. That had occurred to me as well- but wouldn't it judder in reverse as well if that were the case? (might be a daft question. . .)

    Clunking and juddering transmission- 110

Hi All, Not had my Fender for a good while while i've been fettling her. Finally got her finished and back on the road with a full mot, but there's a hitch. Ive driven approx 400miles since getting her back on the road, but in the last 10miles she's developed a horrible transmission...
