    Defender Calipers- replace or rebuild?

Oh right, i see. Thanks for the info. Would this be a job i could do relatively easily? In the Haynes manual it doesn't look too difficult, but i know from experience that that doesn't mean anything! It's not something i've ever tackled before. Cheers!

    Defender Calipers- replace or rebuild?

Hi all, I noticed a slight pulling to the left under braking form my '92 110tdi recently which i reckon is down to a knackered piston. Looking at the outside of the calipers, they look like they've been through hell. Would it be best for me to replace them, or rebuild them with new pistons...

    clutch

Hi dave, I had similar problems with mine. It turned out to to be that I'd bent the copper pipe that goes from the master cylinder round the bulkhead to the union before the slave. Once I replaced that pipe it was plain sailing Hope this helps! Steve

Exhaust manifold gasket replacement- major cock-up!

Ok, i've retrieved the stuck stud. Now i need to think about how to re-thread the cylinder head, before i can reassemble. Any ideas?

Exhaust manifold gasket replacement- major cock-up!

Hi all. Seeing as how i'm totally skint at the mo, i decided to replace my manifold gasket myself, as it was totally shot (how hard can it be?). Anyway, it was all going well until i came to reassemble everything- basically i had 'thread issues' two bolts wouldn't go back in for some...

Honest opinions required on Bulkhead repair...

Hi Joe, I got the quote through the website The Parts Gateway: Find A Part, i think it's mostly breakers but they all seem to do fitting as well.

Honest opinions required on Bulkhead repair...

I had similar questions about my 200tdi, when i bought it- although mine was worse than that. In the end i found a garage that supplied a very solid replacement from a 300tdi. They supplied it and warranted it for £300, and fitted it for another £300, as well as supplying me with a G4 courtesy...

    Middle Front seat mountings

You can get at the underside of the bolts really easily by removing the black panel that goes over the transmission tunnel part of the seat box- in between the front seats. Then you can get at the underside of the bolts.

    Drivetrain Grumbling- Again

It turns out the garage in London that fitted a UJ a while back didn't bother to mark the Prop, so put it back in wrong and it was unbalanced. GRR. Thanks for your advice though, Steve

110 expensive sounding noises and wonky rear axle- Help!

Right, i'm back and, after some kicking and swearing, i'm none the wiser. I've checked everything you mentioned, aside from the diff input flange, as i'm not 100% sure how to- but i can't find any play where the prop meets the diff. The a-frame chassis mounts look like the metal moth has had a...

110 expensive sounding noises and wonky rear axle- Help!

Hi guys, i'm still pretty new to this game, and could do with some advice. Recently my 200tdi 110 started making a grumbling noise when i backed off the accelerator at motorway speed. I checked the half-shafts and UJ's as well as anything else i could think of, but found nothing. I was...

    Freelander Faults poll

I had a 1999 T plate petrol 3 door hardback, with roof bars, soft nudge bar with spots and lamp guards. Cost me 3 grand when i bought it in 2007, with 64k and full service history. Looked fantastic. I did 26k miles (mostly hard miles) in it in one year and it never, ever let me down. I miss it...

defender Grinding noise- Help me home

So to summarise: the Truck is now leaking a worrying amount of Power Steering fluid from the steering box and clutch fluid from the pedal, not to mention the growing drip from the gearbox. And i've checked the drive flanges and half-shafts- both seem to be fine, and don't look worn at all. So...

defender Grinding noise- Help me home

Not yet, i'll do it when it's light- i don't have any half-shaft gaskets to hand at the moment.

defender Grinding noise- Help me home

Thanks for the advice. I've had it on axle stands and checked the prop, uj's wheel bearings, the diff pinion is fine and i've fiddled with everything else i can think of. I'll play it safe with recovery until i can get it to a garage. Cheers!
