Will it not fit between the chassis rails if you remove the alternator ps pump etc? Lower the whole lot on the floor (like you have) then lift the chassis off the engine? (But personally I'd still buy a crane as you are going to have to move it about anyway )

It's the vehicle fluid purge switch to initiate fluid leaks if none are present, or to sustain leaks if they are already up and running. (Covers both coolant , lubrication and also external to internal environmental moisture ingress) nb it's unimportant which position is selected as it will work...

You could do both ie wire it into the existing light and add another switch so that it can come on when you open the doors or be turned on by the new switch which would also allow you to isolate it from the door circuit when needed/wanted
