Ok, I know where the leak is from and how to repair but Im a little perplexed. I have the huge land rover manual (about 2000 pages) its telling me how to remove the pump, setting engine at TDC blah blah but there is one thing Im unsure of, in the manual it states this job requires 3 specialist...

Pump gear retaining tool LST 129/1......If you dont know what its for James, perhaps I dont need it:bounce:

Im after an engine timing kit for a 200tdi specifically the fuel injection pump gear retaining tool....for either nothing or very cheap:D or if someone has the correct dimensions so I can make one myself. I know its cheeky but if ya dont ask ya dont get:)

Just make them yourself, couple of lengths of angle iron and a few hefty bolts, bobs your uncle and your dad:D

My defender 200tdi is leaking diesel from the injector pump, looks as though its leaking from a gasket at the point where the castings are mated (around the area of the fuel cut off solenoid). Is it possible to split the pump and change the gasket or is it a new injector job? Any help...

There is a Land Rover dealer in Devon selling an L plate 90 for £8000 which is over the top but hes confident he'll shift it. I would say between 5/6k would be a fair price for yours but you may get more, you may get less but I wouldn't take less than 5k.
