Is there a threaded hole in the shaft? If there is, a flat plate with a clearance hole to spread the load, wind a suitable bolt with a couple of washers and that might do the job. Please dont crash about with a lump hammer, you risk damaging bearings.

What I do if I remember is to adjust, jump up and down on the peddle a couple of times, back off the adjuster by 1 notch and then adjust up again.

Wouldn't hurt to take the other door card off, then when all done you can refresh the grease on that side as well, and just for ****s and giggles you could spray some rustproofer in there as well. You can see why a 2 hour job takes me a full day.:oops::oops:

This is exactly why I keep a log (alright a sheet of lined A4) for each vehicle, date and mileage for everything, oil and filter changes, but also things like new UJ's fitted, rear drums adjusted etc etc. I can never remember when I have done something and to what, otherwise.
