    Applying thread penetrant

I decant plusgas into a washbottle, no idea what plastic they are made from but I've been using the same bottle for 20 years. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lab-Wash-Bottle-250ml-Laboratory Well that didn't quite work as expected, just do a search on the above.

    Windscreen woes

I was reimbursed today for the screen/seal/labour minus €80 which is the excess, so it ends up a new screen and rubber fitted for the cost to me of €80 instead of the cheaper, original job of just replacing the seal for €70. Just how much the insurance is going to be loaded next year is anyones...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Well I know all that, but I can still cock it up like you would not believe. And as for doing the filter on my VM................who the hell thought mounting it upside down was going to be a good idea.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Oil and filter change, going well with no spills until attempting to remove the filter, loosened off, turning by hand with a bowl in other hand to catch the drips. Sodding filter slipped out of my hand and puked dirty oil over my nice clean (ish) hardstanding, one day I'm going to get this...

    Windscreen woes

Presumeably because they could charge it to the insurance. And this is why perfectly good motors get scrapped because it costs more to fix them/and the projected cost of the hire car, than the book price of the motor. And this is also why car insurance costs so much. Unfortunately I find myself...

    Windscreen woes

No heated screen, don't really want one, I am retired and very rarely bother to leave the house if it's cold enough for a frosty screen. I used std washer tube via some grommets through the bulkhead terminating in a small 3 jet (directional) block that clips onto the end of the wiper arm near...

    Windscreen woes

For the last couple of years I have been promising to get the rubber seal on the windscreen of my 90 (200Tdi) changed, the old seal being old and crusty and generally breaking up. So I have had a new seal in stock waiting for me to pluck up the cohones to get on with it, being a bit wary of the...

    Towing a caravan

I have towed loads of different trailers/caravans, all good advice up there ^^^. One thing I would say - your max speed downhill should be the same as your max speed up it, and always use engine braking on longer decents. The Al-CO stabiliser, is that the one with little friction pads that grip...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thanks Data, it was the wire coming off the terminal of the sender, so just cleaned it up for luck and pushed it back on. Everything now working as normal, I wish all fixes were that easy. Being that the VM is reputedly rather fragile as regards overheating I am a bit anal about checking levels...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had a run to the hospital this afternoon, I usually leave 1 1/2 hours before appointment to give 1/2 hour to sort paperwork, and add 1/4 hour onto journey time for the krapton factor. First little town I have to go through has road closed so end up taking a 6 km diversion, so that's the 1/4 hour...

Just a thought, could you use a torque wrench to test it, start low and gradually increase the tightening torque ?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Gave Buttercup an oil change today, what a drama I made of that, managed to tip half a litre of very black oil onto the hardstanding, slopped it out of the drain pan after draining the sump,:mad: tried cleaning it up but going to have to get the pressure washer out to it. Why oh why did...

Well that would appear to be positive news, at least you know what your options are likely to be. Stay positive.

    Sleeping in FL2

Something I used to do when sleeping in cars was to use 2 sleeping bags. 2 cheap summer bags, one inside the other keeps you warm, the next night change them round, helps stop sweaty bag syndrome....snigger.

    Hunting the noise

Something seriously wrong there, I would be tempted to remove the rear drive shafts and the rear prop and see what difference that makes if any. Be careful though, you wont have a hand brake.
