Hello, looking to swap the 300tdi out of my 1996 defender 90 and put a m57 in its place, I’m looking to keep the 5 speed gear box. I know people have done this but I have no idea as to how difficult it could be or the cost. How I wire the ecu is also a big question. Any help would be appreciated

Ended up breaking it to get it out , took thermostat housing out and covered the hole into engine with some cardboard and had vacuum into the hole to catch debris, then drilled the bung and drove a chisel in and turned the chisel with stilsens

Any tips on getting the plastic bung out or do I have to break it

Now then , should I have coolant flowing out from the small black pipe at the thermostat housing to the T piece which joins up with the rad and header tank 300tdi 90

Just yoke it onto anywhere on the engine?

Only bounces when at idle revs and starts fine and charges battery

The only thing that looks like an earth is this but it doesn’t look very substantial , I’ve cleaned the transfer box earths

Now then, I’m having problems with my rev gauge bouncing up and down with only idle revs on, also my rev gauge jumps with the horn on or lights flashed. my temp gauge goes up with my headlights on as well. noticed tonight that I have a slight spark on my throttle linkage when the engine is on ‍♂️

I’m doing this idea for a pull out bed so hopefully it’ll be tidy but obviously just need to make something hinge over the front

I’ll have a go at hinging from the rear tub I have that dog mesh there already I could hinge that down and attach some legs to it

Is this something you have done before?

I can confirm the truck has been badly painted with its old blue colour coming through in places but the paint on the picture hasn’t peeled yet might have to investigate further

I was hoping to go over the top of that part of the tub and go to the top of the dash but I was hoping there was better ideas that keep the tub behind the seats

I’ve been told the aluminium will be rotten behind the bubbles paint , am I best poking it through and then filling it?
