P38A Is this oil safe for my car?

I've got a 4.0 P38 2000. I happen to have a 25L barrel of 5W-30 fully synthetic which I bought for a 2009 Jaguar 3.0D that I'm now getting rid of, but would like to use the oil if I can Two things concern me about this oil. 1. I have a slight weep from the rear main seal so will I regret...

P38A Does anybody know of any Land Rover breakers near Croydon (South London)

I'm thinking beach holiday for the family. Oh look, there happens to be a parts seller how, what are the chances?

P38A Why brakes don't seem right

At £152 and free postage they do seem to be the cheapest available. Will probably go down this route thanks.

P38A Why brakes don't seem right

Apparently they pressure test them and refill the ones that pass the test, then run them through 100 duty cycles to check they are ok. Whether 101 cycles would go pop is anyone's guess. I don't know if they typically fail due to simply loosing gas or failing diaphragm. If the former a recon...

P38A Why brakes don't seem right

Apparently Saab's too, but searches for them lead to forums advising owners to buy P48 units as they are much cheaper. Doh! Jag units seem to be a similar price. New or recon appears to be what it now boils down to.

P38A Why brakes don't seem right

Ok thanks. It looks like it might be the original based on condition. Looks like the previous owner was trying to solve something as the pressure monitor switch looks brand new. I've noticed that they seem to be £180 new so inflation has clearly hit. Or £85 on an exchange basis on eBay? Worth...

P38A Why brakes don't seem right

Hi, my 2000 4.0 has weird brakes. Going from completely empty to fully pressurised take about 20s which sounds good to me. So I'm guessing the motor is good. But, every time I press the brakes the motor runs for about 3 seconds. Is this normal? Then, with the ignition off I get almost no...

P38A Does anybody know of any Land Rover breakers near Croydon (South London)

I'm looking for somewhere that commonly breaks P38's so I have a reliable and local source for parts. But I can't seem to find any near where I live (Purley, Croydon, South London). I find these types of places are typically only known by word of mouth so hoping someone knows of somewhere near...

    Help!

As said above, the codes are your starting point, but I would be more inclined to think it's something to do with fuel pressure or injectors. It should still start with bad Turbos or split turbo hoses, and I doubt it would be intermittent. It would just be down on power. I would start by...

P38A LEDs Behind the instrument panel

It has been done, I'm just not sure exactly how https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/interior-led-replacements.45822/ Looks pretty https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/interior-led-replacements.45822/#lg=thread-45822&slide=2 It seems that some of the bulbs control the needle colour etc. so you...

P38A LEDs Behind the instrument panel

Hello, the previous owner of my car fitted LEDs behind the instrument panel. Most of them you can't tell the difference form standard, but behind the display message screen thingy they look a bit naff. The picture makes it look worse than it really is, but you can still see the individual...

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

This is why it would be great if I could just raise the offroad height. I could then have a set of bigger off-road tyres for such times, and normal roads ones for 90% of the cars life. The tricky bit would be the bump stops. How to make these rapidly adjustable depending on what wheels you're...

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

What do you mean by cam-like link? Do you mean something to progressively change to sensor angle with a cam setup? Do you know of an example. Sounds tricky.

I believe nanocom can do what you suggest and it's pretty high up on my shopping list

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

That is definitely true if you only extended the one arm that links to the radius arm, but I was talking about change the ratio between the two arms. Diagram below is the radius arm, sensor and sensor arms in Motorway position for example. Notice how I have drawn three different sensor arm...

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

A bummer. I might have to get my maths teacher wife involved and see if we can come up with the best compromise for the sensor arms. There must be a ratio where perhaps the motorway setting is unaffected, and all higher settings are increased by a an increasing amount until my highest setting is...

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

But that's only really true if driving in ruts. For everything else, wading, approach/departure, breakover etc then there still would be a benefit. Also helps keeping the side steps higher so there's a bit less likely to hit something and crumble up like tinfoil.

P38A Can you lift a P38 without lifting the standard height

My P38 came with Arnott Gen 3 bags, but no other suspension mods. I want to keep the car fairly standard looking so I want standard ride height, motorway and access heights to be as standard as possible. Since I have a spare 2" on my bags, I was wondering if I could raise the off road height by...

    Possible alternative to a snorkel

Almost. The last thing you would want in deep water is a running engine necking back water. My thinking was more if you go a little too fast in to water, and you get a wave that fills the engine. If you can avoid knackering the engine with a simple filter, you can then let the water settle and...
