Other what have u done on ur disco today

Started her for the first time in over 2 weeks. She's been parked in a car park all that time. I pumped the air suspension up to ORM before leaving her, and she stayed up. Really confused as to how the suspension can stay up in ORM for 2 weeks, but drop in a few hours when in normal mode...

    Green laning

To me the key difference is: "Off Roading" you're on private property, you have (usually) paid your money to get in, and (within the rules of the site) you can drive around without worrying too much about damage. "Green Laning" you are on public rights of way, often routes that farmers use to...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Not noticeably, no. At the moment I can live with just remembering to put it into ORM before leaving it for the night. I couldn't do the switch to coils... i use the disco on-road a lot so wouldn't want a lift (and all the handling issues that it introduces) but also use it off road and use...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

I will continue to keep going with my Air until i get it right - even though it completely baffles me! The latest - No signs of a leak. - If i leave it in normal road height overnight the back left corner drops to the bump stops. Sometimes it can take all night. Yesterday it did it after...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Handed the Disco keys to "She who must be obeyed" for the week as her car is in the garage. Changing the battery on her volvo at the weekend, the fusible link (part of the positive terminal setup) for the starter motor snapped in half - for some reason the plastic had gone very brittle. A...

New here. What Disco to aim for?

I have a D2. It does get used for the odd bit of towing (nothing that heavy on road, although its towed some very heavy trailers on fields!) I have driven and towed with D3s. Yup. D2s come with or without centre diff lock. If you're regularly going to be towing weight on slippery ground then...

Disco 3 (LR3) Can You Solve This Puzzle? (Flat Battery, No Key)

I'd try and connect a trickle charge to any permanent live that you can get your hands on - connecting the other half to earth will be easy. Hopefully before too long you'll have power to run the central locking. Just make sure the current from the charger wont blow the fuse that you're running...

    Disco 2 Td5 maf

Might try that check before ordering the new MAF... as I think my reading was a consistent zero as well? Starting to think i might have to invest in a nanocom before too long!

    Afternoon

D1 wheels aren't compatible with D2s unfortunately (different stud pattern on the car so different bolt-holes in the wheel) I assume defenders are also different. Any reason for wanting to move away from the Alloys?

Series One and a Half (Discovery 1.5)

Interesting mix... Any issues registering that with the DVLA? Guessing as the chassis and engine are currently from the same vehicle you got away with it? Not sure whether adding a VW engine might cause more problems! I'm also not sure i'd want a little 1.9 litre engine in a car that heavy! How...

    Ok which

I really like the idea... but given the horrendous translation of the ebay description, i dread to think what the installation instructions would look like, or the build quality! Presumably it would disable the steering lock permenantly as well

Certainly a long list of work, and looks like someone who knew what they were doing (or at least knew what they were talking about!)... Its clearly been significantly modded for off road work, without looking like an off road toy. There's clearly a little bit of bodywork damage, but on the...

How much have you spent on your disco since you have owned it?

Ah yes... i do need to order a new set of wiper blades! Although those aren't too bad as I tend to dismantle them and rebuild with new rubbers rather than buying the whole unit

Hi Andy Welcome to the loonyzone! Do you have any pics / more details / price? Hard to tell from the info you've posted really whether its worth avoiding or not. If you've found a defender that age with no corrosion i'm a) impressed and b) wondering what work has been done to it in the past...

    Tow bar fitting instructions

As others have said it is, in theory, very simple HOWEVER, do be prepared for complications! Mine had evidently been involved in a minor rear end shunt at some point which had twisted teh rear cross member ever so slightly.... meant that the bolts were about 1mm out. Might not seem a lot but...
