Glad to hear you're sorted - not too far from me, but J17 to Chippenham Town Centre (Harfords) is probably a bit far to recover on a tow rope anyway. Have used Harfords in the past - they're not necessary the cheapest but you get what you pay for. One of my friends always swore by Broad Lane...

If it's WBP then it should be good for a while.

My concern with aluminium sheeting etc is it will trap moisture against the plywood. It will also potentially be a slippery surface. The ideal base would be proper rubber coated ply (the stuff new trailers come with). Next best is marine ply. Not sure what you mean by "weatherproof" ply but...

Also not ideally suited to long distance drives to get to the lanes...

Personally if I had a tratter I'd also invest in a couple of lions... and underfeed them. That should keep those of a light fingered persuasion away!

Will a jump pack with + on the battery and - on the engine block not give you enough power to get it into N? That's that the AA chap did when my D3 started shorting through the alternator.
