Freelander 1 Air Con Compressor - can't remove pulley

The inner section of the pulley is located on a spline at the end of the compressor shaft, it's probably rusted on. Give it a good dose of Plus Gas or other penetrating fluid not WD 40 which is useless at freeing rusted parts, and leave it overnight at least. A 3 legged gear puller should shift it

Freelander 1 TD4 - fitting an oil pressure gauge

Removal of the battery and tray to access the starter motor is quite an easy job providing the battery clamp bolt is not rusted in. When removed the starter motor to bell housing bolts are accessible, at a guess it should take around half an hour or so to remove the starter motor.Make sure that...

    Repair costs.

At Easter 2014, the alternator on my 2002 TD4 died on me. Unfortunately being Bank Holiday and not having my tools as I was away from home in the Midlands, I went to an auto electrical repair shop where they replaced the alternator with a new (Not recon) unit. They did not swing the aircon...

P38A Do you need to calibrate fuel tank sender unit

As Wammers says. Diagnostics just forces the gauges to read either empty, 1/4 full, 1/2 full, 3/4 full and full in order to check accuracy. In the case of the temp. gauge, it forces it to read Cold, Normal and Hot positions. It does not calibrate the gauges nor senders..

    P38A BECM replace or not?

Your existing BECM can be "Unlocked" and all settings read with the BECM, SM035 software, including the keyfob data. To replace the lock, you will need the set (Ignition barrel + transponder+ tailgate + drivers door) and of course at least one key. The S/H BECM does not neccesarily, but it...

P38A Going to be around Kilmarnock/Glasgow for the next week...

Send a pm to "Jimsnapon"....He has my old P38 full diagnostics kit, including the BECM SM035 module and knows his way round P38's. He has a small workshop in Kilmarnock as far as I know- haven't heard from him in a while. Worth a shot anyway.

    Rear diff mounts

Hi Hippo....None whatsoever, furthermore I am sure they improve the life of the VCU mounts/bearing assemblies due to reduced vibration and radial movement. Polybushes are resistant to oil/grease and weather deteriation. The original brackets are utilised-the original rubber/steel bushes have to...

    Freelander 1 tailgate window problems

With the trim removed, you will see two slotted screws with M8 nuts on the outside that secure the bottom of the guide rails to the door shell......do you remember poking the studs through when you refitted the regulator assembly ??. Slacken, but don't remove the nuts and try adjusting them in &...

    Rear diff mounts

Polybushes are the way to go. There is a place that advertises on Ebay based in Rhyl, North Wales that sells them. Had mine on for over 3 years now (Front bush) without any problems. It's generally the one that that goes. You can buy just the front or the complete set. Fit and forget !!

Freelander 1 Land Rover Dealers are having a Laugh..

+1 on this ^^^^^^ I fitted a pair of Bearmachs last year and have not had any problems, The rubber "Shell" is firmer. Make sure that the space between the flingers and the bearing are well packed with grease-As per RAVE, it will help prevent ****e and water getting into the bearing.

Freelander 1 Speedo Or Sat Nat?

I'm reading this post from the sidelines. My TomTom also reads about 5mph slower than the speedo on my 2002 TD4,fitted with the standard LR 16" wheels, at 70 mph on the speedo. The F/L has the factory option of 15 or 16" wheels and I am sure that LR do not have specific speedo's on the...
