    Metal in gear oil

It was before my brake overhaul/upgrade, crashing down a gear was my emergency stop! This whole incident lead to a gear box rebuild and brake overhaul!

Front Axle Half Shaft - Pitted Seal Face

speedi sleeve - I did my output shaft recently and its stopped a persistent leak. Very smooth surface so the seal runs well. https://www.skf.com/uk/products/industrial-seals/power-transmission-seals/wear-sleeves/skf-speedi-sleeve

    Door check straps / rods

Pic of what you have, it would help. Mine is ex-mil so the doors go to stops on the front wing. It has tubes for the rods on the bulkhead but these are not used.

    Metal in gear oil

OK I've checked the parts book. S2A only has flat spring on 3/4 synchro, S3 has flat on 3/4 and coil springs on 1/2 part number 503805. This looks very much like one of those. So first check whether your box is S2A or S3. If its S2A its only got synchro on 3/4 if its S3 its all synchro. If...

    Coked Up?

I would not strip for a de-coke, modern fuels just don't seem to cause coke in the same way so you'll probably find very little. I'm a fan of "Marvel Mystery Oil" - its an engine cleaner. I did a bit of research looking into the ingredients of engine and fuel system cleaners. There's one...

    Metal in gear oil

Agreed 2A syncho springs are flat (mine ate one so I know what they look like mashed up!) could this be an S3 box? Otherwise could it be a detent spring that someone has dropped in the box and lost? If its working fine then I would drive carefully and see how it goes. You could take the top...

    Series 3 Brake pedal box

Agreed, it will fit and you can always wait for a good one to come along at a spares day where you can inspect it before buying.

    Series 3 Contaminated brake shoes

I had same problem, wasted time cleaning the shoes and they were never truly right

    Metal in gear oil

Agreed, its not good but its not necessarily terminal either. How are the gear changes?

Series 3 Installing a camplight in the LR

Search e-bay for 12v led interior light or camper light, budget under £10. Get warm white, the cold white is very harsh. Don't worry about pos or neg earth as they are usually double insulated with pos and neg wires. LED numberplate lights work quite well too.

    Series 3 Electric Conversion Kit

I started off quite positive about classic cars and EV conversions, but the more I watch Vintage Voltage the less I like it. I keep looking at some of the cars they have in the background, one was a BMW Batmobile, there are Ferraris and some very rare cars. I'm now thinking, well why not just...

    Rear Output Shaft Removal

I thought the shaft had 2 holes at 90 deg, why don't you use the other one? Vary the washer thickness if you need to. Drilling split pins out is a bad idea as they are split so they can grab the drill. You have to use a small punch and try to get one half moving, heat as well.

    Series 3 Brake pedal box

Do you have part numbers for the parts you are comparing? There are servo and non-servo S2A as well. One key issue is the size of the cut out in the bulkhead, they are quite different.

    Engine on Ebay

I think its worth more than that. I would have bought it by now.

    What would you do?

Polite because you need to give them a chance, but firm. Set a deadline and keep to it. Get everything in writing, this will support any claim you make, but it also shows you must be taken seriously. Your best solution is that they sort it, the other options are much harder. Have they done...

Alternator diode? New rectifier and regulator sorted it! Or maybe not!!

OK makes sense. charging light is also the excitation for the alternator so if its got a bad connection it will also output less.

    Engine on Ebay

You have to make the decision. How much time do you have to keep looking?
  18. R

    Help please.

Sounds like it could be the head gasket. If its chucked the coolant out that usually means recovery.

Alternator diode? New rectifier and regulator sorted it! Or maybe not!!

Change the diode pack, regulator and brushes as they all fail over time. Most likely diodes but its all so cheap and some of the bits come as a pack so just do the lot. Once the alternator is on the bench its a 1/2 hour job..

LANDROVER SCAM .. 5 sunbeam street wolverhampton..ebay ..smart reconditioning

I agree, that's my point. The only way to get action is to link the pain felt by victims to pain felt by the Chief Constable and head of the Local Authority. Once they realise pain in victims is now their pain they pass that pain onto their staff who then pass it on to the criminals. Out...
