Evening all, I'm struggling to find a definitive answer - I have a disco 200tdi and an lt77 gearbox (though I don't know if this was a defender or a disco one, if that matters). Can the ladder frame be removed without taking the engine out? TIA

Not surprised, the whole EV revolution doesn't make any sense - mining rare earth minerals one part of the planet, flown somewhere else to make batteries, those flown somewhere else for assembly. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's a shame you have to consider that, but at least a 1.1 hatchback you have no emotional connection to means you can rid yourself of the worry.

Oh yeah, she spins over fine right now, just hoping to continue using through winter and not garage, so I suspect on cold mornings glow plugs will help no end

Yeah, my 83 and 86 were the same, and you did have to count to 10 😀 I'm just not sure with mine, as its a bit of a mongrel with v8 and discovery going on. I'll see if there's anything about the relay I have online, be handy if it is clever enough to time the output, I could possibly test on...

Morning all, My 110 started life with a V8, however it is now running a discovery 200tdi (all done by one of the POs). I've just finished the top-end rebuild, and have fitted new glowplugs and have a new glowplug relay, however, as the glowplugs haven't been wired in before, I don't have any...

Thanks all, in the end, I found a slightly longer bolt that reached the remainder of the thread - the original bolts actually only go into the very top of the housing. I also retapped the housing which helped. So far so good 👍

Ebay mate, about 30 quid - just check what yours is, I found out the hard way there are two types of matrix for the 200tdi anyway

I've just pulled the heater out of my defender to put in a new heater matrix, and it's all a bit crappy, and most of the vents in the cab are shot. Before I sink time into restoring all of it, are there any better alternatives you've all retrofitted into a defender, or is the original heater...

Afternoon all, My 110 is determined to test me. Was just popping the thermostat housing back together and noticed one bolt didn't get any tightening - it appears to have cleanly stripped the thread from the bottom half of the housing. What's the best route to repair? I thought about drilling...

After a right faff waiting for parts, cylinder head is back where it should be - onto the water pump and rest of the cooling system

Well, after all that I've whipped the head off - glad I did, as I spotted one of the push rods was bent. 37 mins to strip down, obviously benefitting from the practice 🙄

Huh, now you've thrown me 😅 if it were your engine, would you leave alone or swap the gasket?

Thanks for the replies. Yes its a 200tdi. There's a distinct top and bottom, I spotted part of the head protruding and realised my error. I've just put it the right way up and tightened again, but sounds like the head gasket is a one time thing 😭
