ok, I've not worked on the RR for a while due to work and family commitments, however last night I was able to give the crank bolt another go so... step 1 find and old rag and stuff into the cylinder fit the head and head bolts, using an impact socket (22mm) and a 3/4 breaker bar...

going to cut this off and "beef up" and try again, not sure my breaker bar was up to much more though

What about.... Place some rope on top of the piston, mount the head back on so when it reaches TDC it will lock the engine??

some of that oil will be fuel (as I used oil for that) Manifold didn't need to come off, that's one job RAVE tells you to do. but then neglects to mention the 10mm bolts around the timing cover, the torx screws holding the chain guides anyway it's off now and on with the next part :-)

most cars it's just a squirt of lube on the cone and a yank to get it over, the other cars it's an air-tool to open the boot then just slide it into place they are really really quick! much faster than stripping it all down. I've even made a temporary CV boot from leather and duct tape for a...

the split type boots are rubbish and won't last! but the ones I advocate using are the stretch ones

No to your right to loosen (providing you're on the 32mm part) you will need to lock the engine to stop it turning over
