    Superwinch husky

hi all, First off, I know diddly about winches! I’ve been told of a Superwinch husky (not sure which variant so let’s suppose it’s an ‘8’) that is for sale for a ‘sensible offer’. I have no idea what a sensible offer is but I do know that it is currently not fitted to a vehicle, has remote...

    Heritage style 90 Project

Atlantic green is a gorgeous colour (in my eyes at least). If I ever have my 90 painted all nice as opposed to it’s current shabby chic flakey nato green, it will be Atlantic green out any doubt!

    90 Facelift Progress

Could you stretch to this http://www.paddockspares.com/pm1035-def-bonnet-protector-2mm-superior-chequer-plate.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhOexypz32gIVpbvtCh2tXQ0QEAQYBSABEgI1R_D_BwE For the bonnet? Maybe one on eBay or summat? Just a thought. Etch prime and a flash over with black rattle can...

    90 Facelift Progress

Military sliding windows are loads better than ‘normal’ ones. IMO the rack needs to come off, and as Flat suggested can be used as a negotiating point when selling. The roof needs to be blue or black, the snorkel needs to be black and the additional mirrors on the wings need to disappear. I...

    defender 110 engine issue

It doesn’t take very long to overheat if the engine is already hot. My alternator seized and stalled the engine  so I popped the belt off to move off the road and after 100 -200 yards the temperature had shot up. Anyway, hope your issue isn’t too serious. Let us know what you find.

With the belt off check all the pulley for security and giv then a wiggle to see if any bearings have gone. Alternator and pas pump can make a right racket when they go for a burton

    defender 110 engine issue

I’d guess water pump too. Although the belt passes fairly close to a coolant hose at the top so it could have ridden up and worked it’s way through that. Or you cooked it because the belt came off and stopped driving the water pump.....

2.5 n/a oil cap part number

Do you mean the breather / cap on the rocker cover that has a pipe to the air filter coming from it? If so the seal can be had from Paddocks but it probably still won’t seal. I ended up removing the seal, wrapping tape around the area on the cap where the seal sits to increase its diameter...

    Transmission hell.....

I made a cradle as in this post on another forum https://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/247514-lt230-jack-lifting-mount.html It attaches to the cover plate bolts under the transfer box and provides a flat face to enable the use of a trolley jack. Having someone guide the box from...

    Paint or not worth it

I would suggest that it’s going to end up as a project for you or the next owner. If you are going to keep it I would make sure the chassis, mechanicals and bulkhead are A1 before thinking about the cosmetics. Any potential buyer, if you go that way, will see the chassis has had work and then...

    Has anyone just been lucky?

It’s a lot of money for an old vehicle and that is the first thing to get your head around! After that it’s accepting that it’s an old vehicle and it will have issues. The biggest expensive issues are easy to find and see though (rust etc) and there are loads of vehicles out there to look at so...

    Taking off chequer plate

They are likely stuck on with sikaflex or ismilar panel adhesive. Hopefully not silicone!! Fishing line or kruse wire will be best for removing it from the wings but getting the remains of either panel will be a mare. Not a problem if you are refitting the chequer plate! Mine hides a multitude...
