What's the first three numbers of the engine serial number? Looks like a civilian 5 bearing unit, late series, so would be post rationalisation.

What engine? How many blades on the fan? Not wise to assume original engine. Serial number of engine will tell you. Rebuild kits for the bearings are available, as are new pumps from turner engineering. The military engines were designed to cope with stationary duties, so some had extra...

The dash panel and the heater box can be removed without the loom, so yes. Mostly. Not sure about the binnacle surround, or the vent lever panel, though.

Series 3?

Must be one of the last. Look under the vin plate to find the original colour.

Where are you finding this code?

It's a synchro gearbox. Needs rotation for the snchros to work. But getting the lever right so that the detents and the cogs are in alignment is important.

Fitted a plastic one couple is weeks ago. Seems fine.

Just drive it, see what annoys you, fix that. Mines covered in moss, has a TDI, electric fan, lof clutch pedal, much welding. Distressed 90 seats. Suits me. Or it will once the leaks are sorted......

You would get better advice if you posted in the Freelander section. This section is for Landrovers made by the rover company, not SUVs made by an Indian conglomerate. As a general rule, if it doesn't have leaf springs, it's not a Landrover. Though it might have been made by Jaguar Landrover...

Great, post up pictures of the inner splines on the clutch sleeve. And, if you ever hope to sell in eBay, add a picture of the clutch sleeve! With out that the overdrive is effectively worthless.
