What else is in YOUR garage???

Not long now, I have the hatches to finish, so that the cover will not droop and the steering gear to attach. Then the marquee can be removed giving room to put the trailer under the boat. However this week no chance , from Saturday is the start of regatta week. Saturday Two race series each...

What else is in YOUR garage???

This won't fit in the boat shed ( tin garage) any more at least if I want to get into it. And certainly not when it gets put on it trailer this year..

Front door / sill seals - using post 2006 seals on 1987 doors

There's a hollow / soft side to one side of the rubber. I put a squeeze of "sticks like Sxxt " down that pushed the rubber onto the door and shut the door for 24hours. 10 years+ later the rubber is still stuck to the door. Note id previously removed the remains of the floor mounted rubber. The...

    LOCTITE 290 - 243

I'm no expert on picture, so I can't help. But you wouldn't be the first. My first job in radar after leaving the RAF I had tour 5 bases across the UK with big packs of labels. By the transposition of two digits the original label specified one of the hardest loctites instead of the softest. I...

    Does diesel go off?

yep happened on my boat. Diesel bug. Always leave a diesel tank full or totally empty, if to be left for a long time, otherwise as the temperature rises and falls you'll get condensation in the tank then diesel bug. For the motor boat I have a home built fuel polisher which I run regularly...

    Clean Air Zones

My worry would be accidentally going into a zone, luckily Norwich hasn't joined in yet. As it is 3 years and by 110 goes into the historic vehicle class, then it will be smokily exempt.

Carrying fuel in containers - the legality

The only time I've carried a lot of petrol was, when I had to drive from Norfolk to the other side of Edinburgh....on Christmas day..I finished work at 08:00.. Often need petrol for the lawnmower/ strimmer/ chainsaw./ Wood chipper. The local Tesco tries to insist you can only carry 10ltrs of...

    Any ideas what this is?

The requirement for an alarm for trailer indicators is under construction and use regulations 1986, so if your vehicle is pre that date like my 1984 landrover, then it's not needed. However the EU law was implemented in 1981, so if I were to go abroad then it would be required. Oh the alarm can...

New 130 owner in the Falklands

Internet Falklands, what will they think of next? You've had roads through to Goose for 25 years, less mud plugging needed. I'm guessing you've still got the weather forecast for newly shorn sheep and darts on the radio.. As you may guess I've been there a few times.. Oh by the way welcome to...

    R380 / LT230 gearing advice

I've got a disco transfer box in my 200tdi 110, 235/85r16 tyres plus lots of sound proofing. Go for it.. Much more relaxed crusing, much quieter, and better mpg I get 32 overall.. I do occasionally tow, a 3/4 ton boat on trailer..no problem.. just change down a bit more often...

    Filling old drill holes

It would be quite feasible to aluminium solder to holes over, and the top surface sanded smooth.. it would be the most time consuming method but give the best finish..

My 110 has only been washed once in 20 years, it's coming up to needing it again as the litchen on the roof is growing a bit too much..

What's the most you paid for a land rover? ( or any car in fact!)

RAF Macrihanish was a USA nuclear store, and US navy seal Base, occasionally visited by the RAF or the SAS. RAF Stornoway was a signals Base (electronic countermeasures testing). Later a Tornado Standby base, there is was a RN refuelling depot there as well. RAF Benbecula was is a Radar station...

What's the most you paid for a land rover? ( or any car in fact!)

You'd have been better called a Benbeculian then, the radar was at almost zero feet ASL on the civilian airfield.. We had a landy 109 on the station, a Sherpa mini bus, which was the most used vehicle, and the F.LT. C.O. had a Cortina. The current radar is up a mountain on North Uist though...
