My 1984 110 has a 200tdi and disco box, 285 tyres, my average is 32mpg. That includes occasional towing a 3/4 ton of boat and trailer short distances. Normally my max speed is 60mph ... Before with 2.5N/A and standard transfer box I was lucky to get 20mpg.

A proper disk on the wheel , will stop the supermarket thieves, it's obvious so they'll choose something that won't attract attention. Long term when you aren't there, is a different problem. If they really want it they'll just hi ab it or tow it away. All you can do is make it more difficult...

If a sleeper ( with others) can support a hundred ton locomotive it can easily support a landy. If you are going to stack them make sure they can't fall over..

As well as the engine still being warm there will still be more oil in the upper parts of the engine, providing more protection against metal verses metal noise. Than you would get if you left the engine overnight to allow the oil to drain totally.

I have a 110, 200tdi with the disco box, on 235/80s. I tow and move up to 1 ton of boat and trailer, up to 25 miles in Norfolk no problem. I drive up to 200 miles in a single trip, not towing, half "A " road, half A1/A1M, I find the disco box much better, quieter, for comparatively high speed...

There's a thread somewhere about about adding 2T to diesel to reduce smoke, but iirc less that a litre that's needed, I think it's 500ml per full tank. I used to put in 250ml per half tank, it does work in reducing smoke. Also almost all diesel is reduced sulphur, when doing that it reduces...

I've towed 3/4 ton of boat +trailer with my 110. 200tdi plus disco transfer box, 285 tyres No problem, I've used 5th too, but only down hill. Back in the days of me being in the RAF, towed up to 3 1/2 tons with an old series. but I don't think, it would have pulled a 5th had it had one.
