What have you done to your Landie today.

Had my Defender air-con re-gassed, oh what a relief, it was so hot and unpleasant to drive in this heat and now back to a icy cool interior as well as driving an all time cool vehicle.

Defender TD5 90 County 2003 Cruising speed 45 miles an hour

Definitely not right, sounds as though you are stuck in low range or your clutch is slipping badly. A comfortable cruising speed on my TD5 is 60 and can easily exceed 80mph with standard gearing set up. (allegedly as I would never exceed 70)

90 TDI 2003 - No electrics after battery change

If you did not follow the correct procedure changing the battery the vehicle will be immobilised and the key fobs will require resynchronising. Battery removal and replacement Your vehicle may be fitted with a battery backed-up sounder, which operates as an anti-theft siren if the main battery...

    Defender Td5 no oil pressure

The dipstick does have a black plastic tip on the very end of it. Early TD5's had a reputation for oil pump bolt unscrewing and causing engine failure, there was a mod that was carried out to stop this on later models and modified bolt available for DIY use, (thread lock on threads). Link to...

    Alpine window seal replacement

I did mine and found it an easy DIY job, it makes the job easier if you have an insert tool like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254219282069 I used one of my wife's kitchen utensils because I am too tight to by one.

    40amp yellow relay

Just take the relay into any auto shop and ask if they have one, they should be able to supply you with one off the shelf.

Would you buy a Cat D write off

A Cat D is usually valued at 20% less than a unrepaired vehicle, if the repair has been carried out properly a Cat D is a good buy if you plan on keeping the vehicle long term and not worried about resale values. I would not let the fact it is a Cat D put me off buying it, if price is right with...

90 or 110 which is best for towing?

I have towed my caravan with my 90 and it was fine, although they are a bit slow to setting off but once upto speed they are stable and fine, same engine/torque as 110, and towing limit, but for me I would consider 110 if carrying rear passengers and cargo over the 90, the 90 will have very...

Not Able to Go in Gear unless in High Drive

Yes but as the owner obviously knows nothing about how his landy works so I was keeping it brief for road use. Not a good idea to be turning corners in diff lock. Agree good idea to engage it now and again on the straight briefly to keep linkages free. I have never needed to use it yet, but my...

Not Able to Go in Gear unless in High Drive

Stick it in high range and leave it there, it is the normal position for road use, you should never need to use low range or diff lock under normal use. DRIVING IN DIFF LOCK WILL WIND UP YOUR TRANSMISSION , IT IS ONLY USED IF YOU ARE STUCK AND WHEELS SPINNING, BUT SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT OF DIFF...
