P38A P38 diesel DSE - leaking heater feed pipe on the engine block

I found a local engineering firm - he reckons around £10 for the tube. Should have it in a week as he has to order the tubing in first. I'll post pics later of the split in the pipe. Not sure whether it's corrosion or over tightening but there is a full length split down the pipe almost right to...

P38A P38 diesel DSE - leaking heater feed pipe on the engine block

I'm seriously convinced they did. It's like they had either caustic soda or sulphuric acid for coolant. It's a proper mess. Anyway I spoke with Turners, very friendly as well, they buy their heads and that other coolant pipe from AMC in Spain. I suggested that as the outlet pipe to the rad had...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Removed starter motor again yesterday after getting marooned in Burton on the Trent. It's in for repair / refurb now. 6 hour wait for recovery, but at least I was near 2 nice pubs, the Crown and the Barley Mow! Then found another rotted piece of ****ty pipe. Ah well..... back to the TT and...

P38A P38 diesel DSE - leaking heater feed pipe on the engine block

I've done more searching and found one person with the same problem (RR.net). I'd hazard a guess that if the front pipe has rotted the rear one will have done as well, sooooooo I'm going to call Turners and have a chat about it. If they can't supply a replacement I've managed to find a local...

P38A P38 diesel DSE - leaking heater feed pipe on the engine block

Hi all, Starter packed up again so it got removed and is being repaired over the weekend. However I found another problem that I didn't spot when I removed it last time . The opposite end coolant pipe (heater feed pipe) at the rear of the engine appears to be leaking. I can't fix it...

P38A Heater box binding the flaps with pictures

Same as mine, it's not the rubber it's the shafts that needed sanding down. Did you manage to get those top 2 flaps out and if so how? :D

P38A Heater box binding the flaps with pictures

I pulled the bar and gear out that's not the problem. It's the 2 flaps I can't get out Wammers, they are pressed in. It's my spare box anyway. How do you get those 2 little flaps out?

P38A Heater box binding the flaps with pictures

Hi all, I have a spare heater box and decided to look at why after managing to get all but the top 2 flaps out, sanded back and now smoothly running, that after reassembly it jammed up again. I sanded back all the ends of the shafts (plastic) with wet and dry and took my time. They are all now...

P38A For todays trick the fuse box burned out - in France. Solved - new fuse box now fitted and working

One final comment on the replacement coolant pipe from the engine block. The Turners part is a lot more substantial and appears to be milled rather than pressed/rolled tin pipe

If you have a later Land Rover you can also flash the ECU with Nano. Shame it can't be done on a P38 M51
