P38A Timing chains and sprockets install - what else is required?

Mine came with the chain guides yes. Well I'm not doing the valves as well, I want the car back on the road this year hahahaha. Once I get a spare engine I'll do all that in slow time ready for the day of a swap over with a fully rebuilt engine (that's my plan anyway....):p

I'm the same. It's actually not difficult once the penny drops but remove all the HP pipes from the FIP, they get in the way. Remember it's 0.9mm and not 9.0mm as well  Theory and practice and all that. The theory was easy, the practice wasn't :D:D:D

I'll do pics worry not! I'll also do the pics when I re-install the FIP and static time it as well. Another dark art mastered!

Cut the hole in the floor above the lift pump. I've changed mine 3 times since I owned the car. Wouldn't like to drop the tank 3 times that's for sure

Yes I read it Wammer's, I'm frustrated as I really need a week off to get this done, doing it over weekends is pain  It's frustrating when I'm doing nothing 300 miles away and I could be getting on with it :D.

P38A Timing chains and sprockets install - what else is required?

Or I may just check the timing chains are correct. What is the magic way of removing the front cover without removing the head? I'm assuming the sump bolts still have to be removed. I'll have a closer look this afternoon. Can't do much more as I need to get back on the road south again.

Only the a/c compressor to remove now, my forearm is too big for the gap, SWMBO will be required with her lady arms. It took me around an hour to finally find that "second" bolt that holds the alternator on. Lovely picture in RAVE, shame it doesn't say "swivel the alternator forwards (sideways)...

P38A Timing chains and sprockets install - what else is required?

Hi all, I have the rave printouts with me and rave on my pc. I have purchased this TC0930FK full timing chain kit from Advance factors. I'm trying to ascertain what else I need as I've read some can do this without removing the head and sump and RAVE says you need to remove / undo both. The...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The guy that "refurbished" mine (that is what I asked and paid for) when it failed to work after a couple of days (vague recollection now) said he didn't actually refurb it, he blew it out with compressed air and it started working. A robust conversation ensued and needless to say he got me a...
